Saldus Municipality ( lv, Saldus novads) is a municipality in Courland, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2021 by merging the former Saldus Municipality and Brocēni Municipality. It contains 19 Parishes and 2 Towns: Saldus town, Ezere Parish, Jaunauce Parish, Jaunlutriņi Parish, Kursīši Parish, Lutriņi Parish, Nīgrande Parish, Novadnieki Parish, Pampāļi Parish, Ruba Parish, Saldus Parish, Šķēde Parish, Vadakste Parish, Zaņa Parish, Zirņi Parish, Zvārde Parish, Brocēni town, Remte Parish, Blīdene Parish, Ciecere Parish, Gaiķi Parish. The population in 2021 was 27 110. The municipality has an international partnership with Bakhmut urban hromada in Ukraine. Bakhmut urban hromada () is a hromada of Ukraine, located in Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast. Its administrative center is the city Bakhmut. It was founded on 26 June, 2019, from the merger of local village councils in Bakhmut Raion. Brocēni
Brocēni (; german: Brotzen) is a town in Saldus Municipality in the Courland region of Latvia. The town is situated along the river Ciecere, near lake Cieceres, which contains a large deposit of limestone, which is used in the manufacturing of cement. Zvārde Parish ( lv, Zvārdes pagasts) is an administrative unit in the Eastern part of Saldus Municipality, Latvia. It borders with the Novadnieki, Kursīši, Ruba and Jaunauce parishes, Brocēni Municipality Ciecere and Blīdene parishes and Auce Municipality Lielauces and Vītiņu parishes. History The territory of present-day Zvārde parish in the 19 century was divided between Jaunzvārde manor ('' Gut Neu-Schwarden ''), Ķerkliņi manor ('' Gut Kerklingen ''), Striķi manor ('' Gut Stricken '', Striķi), Veczvārde manor ( '' Gut Alt-Schwarden '').
