Salcea
Salcea is a town in Suceava County, in the Western Moldavia region of northern Romania, with a population of 9,015. It administers four villages: Mereni, Plopeni, Prelipca, and Văratec. Salcea was declared a town in 2004. The town is located at about 11 kilometers east of Suceava and it is best known for the Suceava Airport located nearby. Suceava County
Suceava County () is a county ('' ro, județ'') of Romania. Most of its territory lies in the southern part of the historical region of Bukovina, while the remainder forms part of Western Moldavia proper. The county seat is the historical town of Suceava (german: Suczawa, also Sotschen or Sutschawa; historically known in Old High German as ''Sedschopff'' as well) which was the capital of the Principality of Moldavia during the late Middle Ages and then a pivotal, predominantly German-speaking commercial town of the Habsburg/Austrian Empire and Austria-Hungary at the border with the Kingdom of Romania throughout the late Modern Age up until 1918. 2020 Romanian Local Elections
Local elections were held in Romania on 27 September 2020. Initially planned for June 2020, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic led the Government of Romania to postpone the elections to a date no later than 31 December 2020, and extending all the terms of the local offices due to expire on 5 June 2020. The aforementioned decision was deemed unconstitutional, and, in the end, a law was passed that extended the terms of the local officials up to 30 November 2020, and allowed the elections to be called by the Parliament, rather than by the Government, no later than that day.
