Salamé ( ar, سلامة) is a Lebanese last name which means "peaceable". It derives from a personal first name, and the Semitic word S-L-M meaning "peace". Among Maronites, the name may derive from the Syriac word "Shlama" or "Shlomo" (ܫܠܡܐ) in the Western Syriac dialect deriving from a Proto-Semitic *šalām-. Léa Salamé
Hala Salamé, known as Léa Salamé (born 27 October 1979), is a Lebanese-born French journalist. Early life Hala Salamé is the daughter of Ghassan Salamé, former Lebanese Minister of Culture and former special advisor to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan; her mother, Mary Boghossian, of Armenian descent, is the sister of diamond dealers Jean and Albert Boghossian. She escaped war in Lebanon with her family, settled in Paris at age 5 and obtained French nationality at age 11. Léa Salamé studied law at Panthéon-Assas University and Sciences Po. Ghassan Salamé ( ar, غسان سلامة; born 1951) is a Paris-based Lebanese academic. He served as the Lebanese Minister of Culture from 2000 to 2003. He was the Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) and professor of International Relations at Sciences Po. Aïshti is a Lebanese luxury department chain store which sells fashion and clothing. In 2015, Aïshti opened the Aïshti Foundation in Beirut. Joseph Salamé (25 December 1914 – 29 March 2004) was a Lebanese apostolic administrator of the Maronite Catholic Eparchy of Latakia and Archeparch of the Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Aleppo. Life Salamé was born on 25 December 1914 in Antelias, Lebanon, the son of Baz Salamé and Jamilé Salamé. He was ordained as a priest on 10 March 1940. Banque du Liban (BdL, ar, مصرف لبنان, English: Bank of Lebanon) is the central bank of Lebanon. It was established on August 1, 1963, and became fully operational on April 1, 1964. It is currently headed by Riad Salameh. One of the main responsibilities of the bank is issuing Lebanon's currency, the Lebanese Pound. Other responsibilities include maintaining monetary stability, regulation of money transfers, and maintaining the soundness of the banking sector. Riad Toufic Salameh (Arabic: رياض توفيق سلامة, born July 17, 1950) is the current Governor of Lebanon, Lebanon's central bank, Banque du Liban since April 1993. He was appointed Governor by decree, approved by the Council of Ministers of Lebanon, Council of Ministers for a renewable term of six years. He was reappointed for four consecutive terms; in 1999, 2005, 2011 and 2017. He is the longest-serving central bank governor in the world.
