St. Andrew's Village (abbreviation: SAV) is a 13.5 ha school complex located in the Central Region, Singapore, Central Region of Singapore. It was officially opened on 26 August 2006, with the ceremony being held at the 1000-seater Cultural Centre in the Junior College. The Village consists of Woodsville Campus and Potong Pasir Campus, located on the east and west bank of the Kallang River respectively. Both campuses are linked to each other by the Jacob Ballas Bridge, forming the Village. It mainly houses the three schools of Saint Andrew's School, Singapore, St. Andrew's School — SAJS, SASS and SAJC. In addition to these three schools, the Village also houses the (Anglican) Diocesan Office, the Ascension Kindergarten, three church buildings and a hostel. Potong Pasir
Potong Pasir is a housing estate located between Toa Payoh and Sennett Estate in the Central Region of Singapore. For urban planning purposes, it is classified under the Toa Payoh area. Politically, Potong Pasir had been the longest-held opposition ward in one-party dominant Singapore. Its Opposition Member of Parliament Chiam See Tong held the ward from 1984 to 2011. In 2011, the ward, led by Mrs. Lina Chiam, was lost to 3-time challenger Sitoh Yih Pin in what was the slimmest of margins of 114 votes, with 242 votes rejected. Kallang River
The Kallang River (, ms, Sungei Kallang) is the longest river in Singapore, flowing for 10 kilometers. from the Lower Peirce Reservoir (originally named "Kallang River Reservoir") to the Kallang Basin. It originates in the planning area of Central Water Catchment, flows in a southeast direction through Bishan and Toa Payoh, before finally arriving in Kallang. Potong Pasir MRT Station
Potong Pasir MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the North East line (NEL) in Toa Payoh planning area, Singapore. It is situated underneath Upper Serangoon Road at the junction with Potong Pasir Avenue 1 and Wan Tho Avenue. Primarily serving the Potong Pasir residential estate, Potong Pasir station is also close to Saint Andrew's Village, a major cluster of educational institutions that are part of the Saint Andrew's family of schools. The station was first announced as Sennett MRT station in March 1996 when the stations on the NEL were revealed, but it was planned to be opened only when there was "sufficient demand". Pan Island Expressway
The Pan Island Expressway (Abbreviated as: PIE) is the oldest and longest expressway in Singapore. It is also Singapore's longest road. The expressway runs from the East Coast Parkway near Changi Airport in the east to Tuas in the west and has a total length of . Saint Andrew's Secondary School
Saint Andrew's Secondary School is a government-aided Anglican boys' secondary school in Potong Pasir, Singapore. It was established in the 19th century, and still operates along traditional British lines. The school offers a four- or five-year programme, leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level or Singapore-Cambridge GCE Normal Level examinations. History The school was founded in 1862 by Reverend Edward Sherman Venn. In May 1872, after the Colonial Chaplain, Canon J. A. Beccles, applied to the government for financial aid, Saint Andrew's School became a grant-in-aid institution. The growing school moved from Upper Hokkien Street to Victoria Street and then in 1875 to a four-acre site along Stamford Road. By the 1920s, the school's enrolment had reached 800 boys.
