Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan is a Quebec municipality located in the Montcalm Regional County Municipality located in the Lanaudière region. It is on the banks of the Achigan River, a tributary of the L'Assomption River. According to the town's website, the population is approximately 5,1and growing steadily as a result of the suburban sprawl in the North Shore of Greater Montreal. History The first settlers arrived near the 1770s and built a flour mill on a township located alongside the Rivière de l'Achigan. The area was located on the northern edges of the first developed lands that were located along both sides of the Saint Lawrence River. In 1787, the Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan Parish was formed and in 1832, its post office opened, three years after the construction of its first school. In 1845, the parish municipality was established. Saint-Roch-Ouest is a municipality in Montcalm Regional County Municipality in the Lanaudière region of Quebec, Canada. ''Ouest'' is French for "west", indicating its position in relation to Saint-Roch-de-l'Achigan. History Saint-Roch-Ouest was formed in 1921 when it separated from the Parish Municipality of Saint-Roch. Montcalm is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, which has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1867 to 1917 and since 2004. In the 2004 election, the Bloc Québécois won a larger percentage of the vote than in any other riding, with 71% of the vote. It held the seat until 2011, when it was defeated by the NDP. Autoroute 25 (or A-25, also called Autoroute Louis-H.-La Fontaine in Montreal) is an Autoroute in the Lanaudière region of Quebec. It is currently long and services the direct north of Montreal's Metropolitan Area. A-25 has one toll bridge, which is the first modern toll in the Montreal area and one of two overall in Quebec (after being joined by the A-30 toll bridge, which opened in 2012). Terrebonne () is an off-island suburb of Montreal, in southwestern Quebec, Canada. It is located in the North Shore region of the Montreal area, north of Laval across the Rivière des Mille-Îles. Route 125 is a Quebec highway running from Montreal (on Pie-IX Boulevard near the Olympic Stadium) to Saint-Donat, Lanaudière, Quebec in the Lanaudière. The Olivier Charbonneau Bridge is a toll bridge over the Rivière des Prairies, between Laval's St. François district and Montreal's Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles borough. Along with the Serge-Marcil Bridge, it is one of two toll bridges in Quebec. Toponymy Before May 2012, the bridge was called the A25 Bridge. It was then renamed to commemorate Olivier Charbonneau (1613-1687), French frontiersman and first inhabitant of Île Jésus, where the city of Laval now stands.
