Bells Of Notre-Dame De Paris
There are 10 church bells in the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris, all of which are mounted in the two main bell towers. Notre-Dame used to have other smaller bells in the spire and within the roof, but these were destroyed in a fire in 2019. For most of the cathedral's history, the bells have been primarily used as a striking clock, to call to prayer for the Angelus, and to announce and participate in Divine Offices and special services. They have also sometimes been used as a or to commemorate historic events. As such they have become a familiar part of life in Paris, where they are known as "the cathedral's voice." The largest, oldest, and most well-known of Notre-Dame's bells is the bourdon Emmanuel, which was cast in 1686. Saint-Marcel (Paris Métro)
Saint-Marcel () is a station of the Paris Métro, serving line 5 located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris. Location The station is located under the Boulevard de l'Hôpital, south of the intersection of Rue des Wallons. This is the second last underground station before the end of the southern section of the line. The station serves the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. History The station was opened on 2 June 1906 with the commissioning of the first section of line 5 between Gare d'Orléans (now Gare d'Austerlitz) and Place d'Italie. It owes its name to its proximity to the beginning of Boulevard Saint-Marcel, named for a 5th-century bishop of Paris, who died in 436 and was famous for his miracles. He rescued Paris from a monstrous dragon, changed the water of the Seine into wine, and converted the pagans. Saint-Marcel-lès-Annonay
Saint-Marcel-lès-Annonay (; oc, Sant Marcèl d'ès Anonai) is a commune in the Ardèche department in southern France. The village was founded in 972. The Deûme passes through Saint-Marcel and flows into the Cance with Annonay. Water from these rivers come from the granitic areas and is very pure. Their patent rights have been recognized for several centuries with the rise of paper mills. The paper mills of Annonay by Montgolfier-Canson formed only two groups in the 18th century from Vidalon and Faya-Largeau. In 1805, Jean-Baptiste de Montgolfier was detached from Vidalon to create a factory in Saint-Marcel. Paper production was a large contributor to the rise of the commune and was the main industry for a long period of time.
