Saint-Jean (provincial Electoral District)
Saint-Jean is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of the province of Quebec. It comprises most of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and all of Saint-Blaise-sur-Richelieu. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada). It disappeared in the 1939 election and its successor electoral district was Saint-Jean–Napierville; however, it was re-created for the 1944 election. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. In the 1994 election (on September 12) there was a tie between incumbent Liberal candidate Michel Charbonneau and PQ candidate Roger Paquin. Le Haut-Richelieu Regional County Municipality ''(Upper Richelieu)'' is a regional county municipality in the Montérégie region in southwestern Quebec, Canada. Its seat is in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. It is named for the Richelieu River which runs south-north through it. Chauveau (electoral District)
Chauveau is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It includes portions of the Charlesbourg and La Haute-Saint-Charles boroughs of Quebec City and the eastern portion of the La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality. It was created for the 1966 election from part of Québec-Comté electoral district. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier to La Peltrie and the unorganized territory of Lac-Jacques-Cartier to Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré. In the change from the 2011 to the 2018 electoral map, the riding will lose some territory (roughly the area between Rivère des Roches to Rue George-Muir) to Charlesbourg. La Pinière is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. Its territory corresponds to the city of Brossard, less its "P" and "V" sectors that are located north of Autoroute 10 and west of Taschereau Boulevard. It was created for the 1989 election from part of La Prairie electoral district. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. Chambly is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada. It includes the city of Chambly and other smaller municipalities. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). 2007 Quebec General Election
The 2007 Quebec general election was held in the Canadian province of Quebec on March 26, 2007 to elect members of the 38th National Assembly of Quebec. The Quebec Liberal Party led by Premier Jean Charest managed to win a plurality of seats, but were reduced to a minority government, Quebec's first in 129 years, since the 1878 general election. The Action démocratique du Québec, in a major breakthrough, became the official opposition. The Parti Québécois was relegated to third-party status for the first time since the 1973 election. The Liberals won their lowest share of the popular vote since Confederation, and the PQ with their 28.35% of the votes cast won their lowest share since 1973 and their second lowest ever (ahead of only the 23.06% attained in their initial election campaign in 1970). Lucille Méthé (born December 15, 1957 in Henryville, Quebec) was the Action démocratique du Québec Member of the National Assembly of Quebec, Canada, for the electoral district of Saint-Jean. Background Methe has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal and also studied at the Séminaire de Sherbrooke in International Commerce in 2001. Jean-Pierre Paquin
Jean-Pierre Paquin (born August 23, 1948) is a Canadian importer and politician from Quebec. He served as a Member of Parliament, representing Saint-Jean in the National Assembly of Quebec as a member of the Quebec Liberal Party from 2003 to 2007. Life and career Paquin was born in Montreal, Quebec. He earned a business degree from Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe in 1965. He founded Propriétaire des Importations J. P. P. in 1972. Paquin later trained in professional marketing and management at Collège Jean-Guy Leboeuf of the Collège de l'immobilier du Québec in Verdun, Quebec in 1976. 2008 Quebec General Election
The 2008 Quebec general election was held in the Canada, Canadian Provinces and territories of Canada, province of Quebec on December 8, 2008. The Quebec Liberal Party, under incumbent Premier Jean Charest, was re-elected with a majority government, marking the first time since the 1950s (when the Union Nationale (Quebec), Union Nationale of Maurice Duplessis won four consecutive elections) that a party or leader was elected to a third consecutive mandate, and the first time for the Liberals since the 1930s, when Louis-Alexandre Taschereau was Premier. Turcotte was elected to represent the riding of Saint-Jean in the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2008 provincial election. He is a member of the Parti Québécois.
