The Dragon was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 1968 Summer Olympics Sailing/Yachting is an Olympic sport starting from the Games of the 1st Olympiad ( 1896 Olympics) in Athens, Greece. Axel May (born 13 August 1948 is a sailor from the West-Germany, who represented his country at three Olympic Games. The first time was the 1968 Summer Olympics in Acapulco, Mexico as crew member in the 5.5 Metre. With helmsman Klaus Oldendorff and fellow crew member Peter Stülcken they took the 7th place. The second appearance was the 1976 Summer Olympics in Kingston, Ontario, Canada as crew member in the Soling. With helmsman Willi Kuhweide and fellow crew member Karsten Meyer they took the 5th place. Pelle Petterson
Pelle Helmer Petterson (born 31 July 1932) is a Swedish sailor and yacht designer. He is the son of Helmer Petterson and Norwegian-born Borgny Petterson (born Holm), and studied design at the leading Pratt Institute in New York from 1955 through 1957. He is probably best known for designing the Maxi brand of sailing boats, which are still among the most common sailing boats in Swedish waters. He also designed Volvo's successful sports car, the P1800, while he was a student of Pietro Frua. Petterson has three children. There is a line of sailing clothing and sports wear bearing the name Petterson, under the Brand Name ''Pelle P.'' which are designed by his daughter, Cecilia. His other daughter, Ulrika "Icka", lives in the U.S. and is married to Paul Cayard, an American yachtsman and professional sailor. Bengt Valdemar Palmquist (4 April 1923 – 26 November 1995) was a Sweden, Swedish sailor who competed in the Dragon class at the 1956, 1960 and 1968 Olympics. He won a gold medal in 1956, finishing 20th and sixth in 1960 and 1968, respectively; he was the helmsman in 1960. Thomas Anderson (sailor)
Thomas James "Tom" Anderson (24 July 1939 – 28 July 2010) was an Australian sailor and Olympic champion. He competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, where he received a gold medal in the dragon class, together with crew members John Cuneo and John Shaw. He was the twin brother of John Anderson. On 8 February 2000, Anderson was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his gold medal-winning performance at 1972 Summer Olympics.
