High Island Reservoir
The High Island Reservoir, located in the far south eastern part of the Sai Kung Peninsula, was opened in 1978 helping to alleviate water scarcity, water shortage problems in Hong Kong. Its water capacity is approximately 273 million cubic metres. The area it occupies was originally the Kwun Mun Channel (), which separated High Island, Hong Kong, High Island from the Sai Kung Peninsula. History Its history starts as a result of the water shutdown by mainland China during the Hong Kong 1967 riots, the government responded with the High Island Reservoir. Conic Island
Conic Island or Fan Tsang Chau () is a small uninhabited island in Sai Kung District, Hong Kong. Its Chinese name derives from it being in the shape of Zeng (), a crockery used in ancient times in steaming rice. There is a small lighthouse and a basic dock on the island. Location Located within Sai Kung East Country Park, the island lies a few hundred metres east of Tsang Pang Kok (), Long Ke Wan. It is visible from Tsang Pang Kok, the East Dam of the High Island Reservoir, the eastern end of Man Yee Road as well as at the end of Stage 1 of the MacLehose Trail. Conservation Conic Island is part of the High Island Special Area (), which covers 3.9 hectares and was designated in 2011. Sai Kung District
Sai Kung District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China. The district comprises the southern half of the Sai Kung Peninsula, the Clear Water Bay Peninsula in the New Territories and a strip of land to the east of Kowloon. Areas in the district include Sai Kung Town, Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark, Tseung Kwan O and over 70 islands of different sizes. The administrative centre had been located in Sai Kung Town until the Sai Kung District Office was relocated to Tseung Kwan O recently. Hong Kong National Geopark
Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark (), formerly Hong Kong National Geopark (香港國家地質公園), was inaugurated on 3 November 2009. It is a single entity of land area over 150 km2 across parts of the eastern and northeastern New Territories. On 18 September 2011, UNESCO listed the geopark as part of its Global Geoparks Network. Tan Ka Wan
Tan Ka Wan () is a village in the Sai Kung North area of Tai Po District, Hong Kong. Administration Tan Ka Wan is a recognized village under the New Territories Small House Policy. Geography Tan Ka Wan comprises several smaller villages: Tse Uk (), Lau Uk (), Lam Uk () and Mo Uk (). The village cluster is mainly concentrated near the coast of Long Harbour. Together with nearby Ko Lau Wan, Tan Ka Wan forms an enclave within Sai Kung East Country Park. A natural stream in Tan Ka Wan flows from south to north towards Long Harbour. Ko Lau Wan () aka. Kau Lau Wan () is a remote village in Sai Kung North, the north of Sai Kung Peninsula, Hong Kong. Administratively, it is under the jurisdiction of Tai Po District. Chek Keng () is an area and village of Sai Kung North in Hong Kong. It is administratively part of Tai Po District. Location Chek Keng is located within Sai Kung East Country Park, on the northern coast of Sai Kung Peninsula and facing the Chek Keng Hau () aka East Arm Bay of Long Harbour. Long Harbour, also known as Tai Tan Hoi (), is a natural harbour formed from an inlet of Mirs Bay to the north of Sai Kung Peninsula, Hong Kong. Geography The harbour is elongated in shape, with its mouth guarded by the island of Tap Mun (). The inner stretch of the harbour is split into two arms by Tung Sam Kei Shan (Long Hill) at Tung Sam Kei Tsui.
