Sahara Tahoe
Hard Rock Lake Tahoe (formerly Sahara Tahoe, High Sierra, Horizon Lake Tahoe and Park Tahoe) is a hotel and casino located in Stateline, Nevada. Also previously known as Sahara Tahoe and High Sierra resorts, it is one of four major casino hotels in Stateline. Horizon Lake Tahoe closed on April 1, 2014, to begin a $60 million renovation and rebranding as Hard Rock Lake Tahoe, which held its grand opening on January 28, 2015. History Sahara Tahoe (1965–1983) The property opened as Sahara Tahoe in 1965. Elvis Presley performed here from 1971 to 1976 and his suite is still available for guests to book. High Sierra (1983–1990) In 1983, the hotel was given a Western theme and re-branded High Sierra Hotel and in 1985 hosted the companies who defined the High Sierra Format, the basis for how computers access CD-ROMs today. Stateline, Nevada
Stateline is a census-designated place (CDP) on the southeastern shore of Lake Tahoe in Douglas County, Nevada, United States. It lies next to the California state line and City of South Lake Tahoe. The population was 842 at the 2010 census. The population swells considerably during the busy winter and summer seasons, due to the high number of hotel rooms and rental accommodations available. Attractions Stateline is home to four casino resorts: Bally's Lake Tahoe (formerly Caesars and MontBleu), Harrah's Lake Tahoe, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe (formerly Horizon), and Harveys Lake Tahoe. Hard Rock Cafe, Inc. is a British-based multinational chain of theme restaurants, memorabilia shops, casinos and museums founded in 1971 by Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton in London. The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was a resort located near the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It now operates as Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The resort is located on on the corner of Harmon Avenue and Paradise Road, about a mile east of the Las Vegas Strip. At the time of its closure, the Hard Rock included 1,506 rooms across several hotel towers, a casino, and a music venue known as The Joint. It had also hosted a weekly pool party event known as Rehab. Plans for a Hard Rock hotel were announced in 1991, and the resort opened on March 10, 1995, as the world's first rock and roll-themed hotel.
