Safe Forever
"Safe Forever" is the first single from Australian four-piece Gyroscope's debut album ''Sound Shattering Sound''. It was released on 15 March 2004 along with a music video. The first B-side to the single was a fully acoustic version of "Misery", also from Sound Shattering Sound. The second B-side was a live version of "Sharp Words", from the band's 2003 EP, '' Midnight Express'', and was recorded at the Amplifier Bar in Perth, Western Australia on 19 July 2003. The video was directed by Matt Weston, and won a Silver Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS) Award in 2004. The song peaked at number 65 on the Australian singles charts and reached number 97 on Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2004. Gyroscope (band)
Gyroscope are an Australian rock band from Perth, which formed in 1997 as Gyroscope Sunday. The members are Daniel Sanders as lead vocalist and on guitar, Zoran Trivic on guitar and backing vocals, Brad Campbell on bass guitar and backing vocals and Rob Nassif on drums. As of 2014 the group has released four studio albums on major labels. Gyroscope's first major label album, ''Sound Shattering Sound'', was released in June 2004 – seven years after formation. It peaked at No. 37 on the ARIA Albums Chart. Their second such album, ''Are You Involved?'', was issued in September 2005, which debuted at No. 20. At The Drive-In
At the Drive-In was an American post-hardcore band from El Paso, Texas, formed in 1994. The band's most recent line-up consisted of Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals), Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, vocals), Paul Hinojos (bass), Tony Hajjar (drums) and Keeley Davis (guitar, vocals). After several early line-up changes, the band solidified into a five-piece, consisting of Bixler-Zavala, Rodríguez-López, Jim Ward, Hinojos and Hajjar. The 2004 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on 26 January 2005. It was the twelfth such countdown of the most popular songs of the year, according to listeners of the Australian radio station Triple J. Voters were limited to 20 votes each: 10 via SMS (charged at 30c each) and 10 via the Internet (no charge). U2's "Vertigo" placed at number 38, despite having not been played on Triple J. Triple J presenter Craig Reucassel encouraged voters to vote for the '' Media Watch'' theme music on the condition that his counterpart Chris Taylor would do a nude run through the Big Day Out if it made the hottest 100. ''Sound Shattering Sound'' is the major label debut by Perth, Western Australia, Perth alternative rock band Gyroscope (band), Gyroscope released on 14 June 2004 in Australia and debuted a week later on the Australian album charts in the top 40 at No 37. History The album was produced by Shaun O'Callaghan (John Butler Trio, Eskimo Joe) who had produced the band's previous two Extended play, EPs. Gyroscope vocalist and guitarist Daniel Sanders says on the Festival Mushroom Records website. "The music that drove us the most were albums like Weezer, Weezer's debut, or Foo Fighters ''The Colour and the Shape''. They were more of an adventure rather than just being a 40-minute album.
