Sadie Barnette (born 1984), is an American artist who works primarily with drawing, photography, and large-scale Installation art, installation. Her work explores Black life, personal histories, and the political through material explorations. She lives in Oakland, California, Oakland, California. Early life Sadie Barnette was born in 1984 in Oakland, California. Barnette's father Rodney Ellis Barnette, was a member of the Black Panther Party who founded the Compton, California, Compton, California chapter in 1968. After founding the chapter, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI put Rodney Barnette on the Counterintelligence Program watchlist (COINTELPRO). Skowhegan School Of Painting And Sculpture
The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture is an artists residency located in Madison, Maine, just outside of Skowhegan. Every year, the program accepts online applications from emerging artists from November through January, and selects 65 to participate in the nine-week intensive summer program. Admissions decisions are announced in April. The school provides participants with housing, food, and studio space, and the campus offers a library, media lab, and sculpture shop, among other amenities. The tuition for the program is $6,000, however aid is available, ensuring that everyone accepted into the program can attend, regardless of financial need. Fort Gansevoort (gallery)
Fort Gansevoort is an American art gallery that takes its name from the former fort in the New York City borough of Manhattan, called Fort Gansevoort. While the fort, which was abandoned in the mid-19th century, was located on the Hudson River at the end of Gansevoort Street, the gallery was created by curator Adam Shopkorn in a building at the other end of the street, in a 19th-century house on the corner of Little West 12th Street, in 2015. Artadia is an American arts non-profit organization founded in 1999. They are headquartered in New York City, and support visual artists with unrestricted, merit-based financial awards as well as other opportunities. History Artadia was founded in San Francisco in 1999 by businessman and art collector Christopher E.
