Sadegh Omidzadeh
Sadegh Omidzadeh ( fa, صادق امیدزاده; died 20 January 2024), also known as Hojatollah Omidvar ( fa, حجت الله امیدوار), was an Iranian general and head of the Quds Force intelligence unit in Syria. He was killed by an Israeli airstrike during the Israel–Hamas war. Military career On 14 August 2012, Omidzadeh, along with other Iranian officials, was captured by Syrian opposition groups in the vicinity of Damascus airport. Subsequently, he was released following mediation efforts by Qatar. In June 2023, reports surfaced indicating that Omidzadeh was planning attacks on American forces in Syria. His specific focus involved targeting U.S. Humvee and Cougar armored vehicles within Syrian territory. Mezzeh
Mezzeh ( ar, ٱلْمَزَّة, al-Mazzah, also transcribed as al-Mazzah, el-Mezze, etc.) is a municipality in Damascus, Syria, due west of Kafr Sousa. It lies to the southwest of central Damascus, along the Mezzeh highway (also known as Fayez Mansour). It started gaining importance when the French constructed Mazzeh Military Airport, which was the main airport in Damascus until Damascus International Airport opened. It also held the notorious Mezzeh prison until 2000. The municipality includes the Damascus University and contains many foreign embassies. The current presidential palace sits atop Mount Mezzeh and overlooks all of Damascus. It is one of the most modern and expensive areas of Damascus, especially the areas along the highway. Razi Mousavi
Razi Mousavi ( fa, رازی موسوی; 1963 – 25 December 2023) was an Iranian military officer serving in the IRGC's Quds Force. He was killed by an Israeli airstrike in Sayyidah Zaynab, Rif-Dimashq, Syria during the Israel–Hamas war. At the time of his death, Mousavi was described as Iran's most influential military commander in Syria. Military career Born in 1963, Mousavi served in Syria under the IRGC's elite unit, the Quds Force, from the 1980s, facilitating the transfer of arms and funds to the Lebanese paramilitary group Hezbollah. In 1990, he assumed the role of the head of the Iranian logistical division in Syria, known as Unit 2250.
