Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Federally Administered Tribal Areas Cricket Team
The Federally Administered Tribal Areas cricket team (FATA) was a first-class cricket side who first competed in domestic cricket in Pakistan in the 2015–16 season. FATA entered the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy through a qualifying round. In their first ever first-class match, they drew with Habib Bank Limited cricket team in the 2015–16 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. They won their first match in round 6 of the same edition of the tournament, when they defeated Rawalpindi by four wickets. In August 2016 they took part in Pakistan's domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament, the 2016–17 National T20 Cup. In their first match, they beat Rawalpindi by 15 runs. 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy
The 2017–18 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was the 60th edition of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Pakistan's domestic first-class cricket competition. It was contested by 16 teams representing eight regional associations and eight departments, and took place from 26 September to 25 December 2017, spanning almost two weeks less than originally planned. Pakistan's former Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq was critical of the compressed schedule and the quality of the pitches saying "it takes time to prepare a good pitch for a game and nobody can make it in two days". The format of the competition remained the same as the previous season, with two round-robin group stages and a final. List A cricket is a classification of the limited-overs (one-day) form of the sport of cricket, with games lasting up to eight hours. List A cricket includes One Day International (ODI) matches and various domestic competitions in which the number of overs in an innings per team ranges from forty to sixty, as well as some international matches involving nations who have not achieved official ODI status. Multan Cricket Team
The Multan cricket team was a first-class cricket team based in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan. Their home ground was the Multan Cricket Stadium. They participated in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. For List A and Twenty20 cricket the team were known as the Multan Tigers and they participate in the various Pakistan List A competitions and in the Faysal Bank T20 Cup. 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup
The 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup was the first edition of the Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup, a List A cricket tournament that took place in Pakistan from 6 September to 4 November 2018. Each match was played after the conclusion of the corresponding first-class fixture in the 2018–19 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Following the conclusion of the group stage, National Bank of Pakistan, Khan Research Laboratories, Habib Bank Limited and Islamabad from Pool A along with Sui Southern Gas Corporation, Pakistan Television, Water and Power Development Authority and Multan from Pool B had all qualified for the quarter-finals.
