''The Childe'' () is a 2023 South Korean neo-noir Action film, action thriller film directed by Park Hoon-jung, starring Kim Seon-ho and Taejoo Kang, Kang Tae-joo in his film debut and also Kim Kang-woo, and Go Ara. It was released theatrically on June 21, 2023. Synopsis Marco resides in the Philippines, caring for his sick mother, while also participating in fights within illegal stadiums in the country. With a complex heritage as the offspring of a Korean father and a Filipino mother, Marco has tirelessly sought his estranged father's whereabouts. His sole motivation is to secure funds for his mother's crucial surgery, yet his relentless pursuit has yielded no results. Following a harrowing encounter with a gang that ultimately lands him in the hospital, a lawyer suddenly emerges, claiming to represent his long-lost father. Park Hoon-jung
Park Hoon-jung () is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. Park first attracted notice within the Korean film industry for writing the screenplays for Kim Jee-woon's ''I Saw the Devil'' (2010) and Ryoo Seung-wan's ''The Unjust'' (2010). He made his debut as a director in 2011 with the period film '' The Showdown''. With his second film, gangster epic ''New World'' (2013), Park scored a critical and commercial success. Early career Park was born in 1975. Since late 1980s, in his teen, he was already a Cinephilia. In 1991, when he was in his second year of high school, he set a future goal to be a film director. However, He enrolled to natural science department in college. After repeating his first college year twice, he enlisted to mandatory military service. He then applied for a noncommissioned officer and was discharged as a sergeant five years later. After five years of military leave, he naturally dropped out of college.
