Saccisica
The Saccisica, sometimes also called the Piovese, is a historic area consisting of the comuni of Arzergrande, Bovolenta, Brugine, Codevigo, Correzzola, Legnaro, Piove di Sacco, Polverara, Pontelongo and Sant'Angelo di Piove di Sacco. It has an area of and a population of 54,000. It lies in the south-eastern part of the province of Padova. Brenta River
The Brenta is an Italian river that runs from Trentino to the Adriatic Sea just south of the Venetian lagoon in the Veneto region, in the north-east of Italy. During the Roman era, it was called Medoacus (Ancient Greek: ''Mediochos'', ''Μηδειοχος'') and near Padua it divided in two branches, Medoacus Maior (Greater Medoacus) and Medoacus Minor (Lesser Medoacus). The river changed its course in the early Middle Ages, and its former bed through Padua was occupied by the Bacchiglione. It is long and was first channelled in the 16th century when a long canal was built from the village of Stra to the Adriatic Sea, bypassing the Venetian lagoon. Bacchiglione
__NOTOC__ The Bacchiglione ( la, Medoacus Minor, "Little Medoacus") is a river that flows in Veneto, northern Italy. It rises in the Alps and empties about later into the Brenta River near Chioggia. It flows through and past a number of cities, including Vicenza and Padua. It acted for many centuries as a significant waterway up to Vicenza, above which it ceases to be navigable. It was connected in the 19th century to the Adige by a canal. Course The river starts in some springs in the towns of Dueville and Villaverla, in the province of Vicenza.
