Sabotage Squad
''Sabotage Squad'' is a 1942 American action film directed by Lew Landers and written by Bernice Petkere, Wallace Sullivan and David Silverstein. The film stars Bruce Bennett, Kay Harris, Edward Norris, Sidney Blackmer, Don Beddoe and John Tyrrell. The film was released on August 27, 1942, by Columbia Pictures. Plot Small-time gambler Eddie is rejected for military service due to ill health. His girlfriend, Edith, has turned to cop John Cronin to help get Eddie out of trouble. Cronin thinks the hair salon where Edith works is a front for a Nazy spy ring because Dr. Harrison, head of a research institute, keeps visiting it. Eddie's friend Chuck, a pickpocket, steals Harrison's wallet and finds a secret Nazi medallion inside. Frightened, Chuck gives the wallet to Eddie. Cronin tails Eddie, hoping that he'll lead the police to the wallet's owner. After a series of coincidences, Harrison kidnaps Eddie, Chuck, and Edith. Lew Landers
Lew Landers (born Louis Friedlander, January 2, 1901 – December 16, 1962) was an American independent film and television director. Biography Born as Louis Friedlander in New York City, Lew Landers began his movie career as an actor. In 1914, he appeared in two features: D.W. Griffith's drama ''The Escape (1914 film), The Escape'' and the comedy short ''Admission – Two Pins'', under his birth name. He became an assistant director at Universal Pictures in 1922. He began making films in the 1930s, one of his early ones being the Boris Karloff / Bela Lugosi thriller ''The Raven (1935 film), The Raven'' (1935). After directing a few more features, he changed his name to Lew Landers and directed more than 100 films in a variety of genres, including Westerns, comedies, and horror movies. Lester Dorr (born Harry Lester Dorr; May 8, 1893 – August 25, 1980) was an American actor who between 1917 and 1975 appeared in well over 500 productions on stage, in feature films and shorts, and in televised plays and weekly series. Even a sampling from his extensive filmography attests to his versatility as a supporting actor and his reliability as a bit player. Eddie Laughton
Eddie Laughton (20 June 190321 March 1952) was an American film actor. Laughton appeared in more than 200 films between 1935 and 1952, and is best known for his work with The Three Stooges. Career Laughton's family immigrated to the United States in 1909 and settled in Detroit. He started in vaudeville and managed a vaudeville theatre where Larry Fine, later of the Stooges trio, once played. The pencil-mustached Laughton was placed under contract by Columbia Pictures in 1935, almost certainly thanks to Fine. Laughton worked at Columbia almost exclusively for 10 years, in features, westerns, short subjects, and serials throughout the 1930s and 1940s. Modern viewers will remember Laughton for his role as "Percy Pomeroy, convict 41144" in the Stooge comedies '' So Long Mr. Chumps'' and '' Beer Barrel Polecats'', or as the happy drunk in '' Loco Boy Makes Good''. Robert Emmett Keane
Robert Emmett Keane (March 4, 1883 – July 2, 1981) was an American actor of both the stage and screen. Biography Keane began on stage in the 1910s, his first Broadway appearance being in the production of '' The Passing Show of 1914''. He continued on the stage through the mid-1930s, appearing in both London and New York theater productions. His film career began in 1930, and over the twenty-five years of that career he appeared in between 170 and 200 films. At the very tail end of his acting life he made several appearances on the small screen. Keane was married twice. His first marriage was to Muriel Inetta Window, an opera singer, vaudeville actress and 1913 Peacock Girl with the Ziegfeld Follies. They were married in approximately 1916 and divorced in 1920.
