Saara Ranin
Saara Vilhelmiina Ranin (originally Muinonen; 3 March 1898 in Hamina – 3 March 1992) was a Finnish actress and director. She made a long career in various Finnish theatres while also appearing in several films. Saara Ranin was married to Helge Ranin, and actor Matti Ranin was their son. As a film actress, Ranin is best remembered as Amalia Rygseck in the Matti Kassila film ''Komisario Palmun erehdys'' (1960). Her final film appearance also came in a Kassila film, ''Natalia'' (1979). Saara Ranin died in 1992 on her 94th birthday after a short illness. Matti Ranin
Matti Helge Ranin (21 November 1926 – 24 November 2013) was a Finnish actor. Ranin had an extensive career in film. He was in his prime as film-actor in the 1950s and 60s, most famously playing Captain Kariluoto in an Edvin Laine film '' The Unknown Soldier''. He also had a recurring role of Toivo Virta in the ''Inspector Palmu'' films and appeared as Lauri Salpakari in ''Here, Beneath the North Star'', the 1968 film adaption of Väinö Linna's novel trilogy '' Under the North Star''. Ranin has also acted extensively as a voice-over artist in children's audio books, cartoons and TV shows. He became known as the voice of the horse Histamiini, performed in puppet theatre style programming and based on the children's books by Raili Mikkanen. Matti Kassila (12 January 1924 – 13 December 2018) was a Finnish film director who achieved fame as one of the most prominent Finnish filmmakers in the 1950s and 1960s. He is most famous for the series of four Inspector Palmu movies, based on the character created by Mika Waltari. During his long career, he won seven Jussi Awards, including a concrete Jussi for lifetime achievement, and received numerous other commendations. His 1959 film '' Punainen viiva'' was entered into the 1st Moscow International Film Festival.
