Fyresdal is a municipality in Telemark in the county of Vestfold og Telemark in Norway. It is part of the traditional region of Vest-Telemark. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Moland. The municipality of ''Moland'' was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). In 1879, the name was changed to ''Fyresdal''. General information Name The Old Norse form of the name was ''Fyrisdalr''. The first element is the genitive case of the name of the lake ''Fyrir'' (now called Fyresvatn). The last element is ''dalr'' which means "valley" or "dale". The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. ''Hvem er hvem?'' ( en, Who is Who?) was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994. Lars Breie (3 April 1907 – 5 October 1999) was a Norwegian jurist, auditor and politician for the Labour Party. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Buskerud in 1945, and was re-elected on one occasion. Born in Ål, he was and deputy mayor of Ål municipality from 1937 to 1940, and was mayor for brief periods in 1940 and 1945. Outside politics he graduated as cand.jur. in 1933.
