The slogan "Sa ikauunlad ng bayan, disiplina ang kailangan" (Filipino language, Filipino for "For the nation's progress, discipline is needed") was a political catchphrase created by the administration of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos after his declaration of Martial law in the Philippines, martial law, as a justification for his authoritarian rule and in an effort to promote the "new society". Internalized racism, Continuing the racist trend of government propaganda from the Philippines' Civilizing mission, Spanish and The White Man's Burden, American colonial periods to Infantilization, portray Filipinos as children unable to govern themselves, the slogan was used to justify the "Child discipline, disciplining" of Philippine society by a "Paternalism, benevolent strongman" who knows what is best and who could therefore "lead the country through a period of False flag, chaos". Internalized racism is a form of internalized oppression, defined by sociologist Karen D. Pyke as the "internalization of racial oppression by the racially subordinated." In her study ''The Psychology of Racism, '' Robin Nicole Johnson emphasizes that internalized racism involves both "conscious and unconscious acceptance of a racial hierarchy in which whites are consistently ranked above people of color." Infantilization is the prolonged treatment of one who has a mental capacity greater than that of a child as though they are a child. Studies have shown that an individual, when infantilized, is overwhelmingly likely to feel disrespected. Such individuals may report a sense of transgression akin to dehumanization. Child discipline is the methods used to prevent future unwanted behaviour in children. The word ''discipline'' is defined as imparting knowledge and skill, in other words, to teach. In its most general sense, discipline refers to systematic instruction given to a disciple. ''To discipline'' means to instruct a person to follow a particular code of conduct. Discipline is used by parents to teach their children about expectations, guidelines and principles. Child discipline can involve rewards and punishments to teach self-control, increase desirable behaviors and decrease undesirable behaviors.
