SSE Airtricity (previously Eirtricity) is an energy company founded in Ireland in 1997, and now a subsidiary SSE plc. SSE Airtricity supplies and distributes electricity and gas to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Greater Gabbard Wind Farm
Greater Gabbard is a 504 MW wind farm, built on sandbanks off the coast of Suffolk in England at a cost of £1.5 billion. It was completed on 7 September 2012 with all of the Siemens SWT3.6–107 turbines connected. Developed as a joint venture between Airtricity and Fluor, it is now jointly owned by SSE Renewables and Innogy. A 336 MW extension of the wind farm called Galloper was commissioned in April 2018. Meentycat Wind Farm
Meentycat wind farm is a wind farm located north of Ballybofey, County Donegal, Ireland. Erected in 2004, it was Ireland's largest wind farm when it opened in 2005. Originally owned by Airtricity (later SSE Airtricity), as of 2020 it was run by SSE Renewables. Turbines Located near Ballybofey in County Donegal, the wind farm has 38 Siemens Wind Power wind turbines. These 23×2.3 megawatt and 15×1.3 megawatt turbines give a total of 72.4 megawatts. North Of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board
The North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board (1943–1990) was founded to design, construct and manage hydroelectricity projects in the Highlands of Scotland. It is regarded as one of the major achievements of Scottish politician Thomas Johnston, who chaired the board from 1945 to 1959. Background In the 1930s several schemes were proposed to develop hydro-electric power in the north of Scotland. These met with opposition by landowners, sporting interest and the coal mining industry on the grounds of competition. There was also opposition from official sources.
