SRO GT2
SRO GT2 is a class of Grand tourer racing cars aimed at gentleman drivers and maintained by the SRO Motorsports Group. Despite the name, this class slots between Group GT4 and Group GT3 in terms of performance. The class also shouldn’t be confused with the Group GT2 from the early 2000s. The class uses a Balance of performance to allow for close competition between competitors. History The new GT2 category was announced by the SRO in 2018. It was created as the GT3 category became more focussed on downforce and also harder to drive for amateur drivers. The GT2 cars would mainly focus on having a powerful engine with 640-700hp, which would be more powerful than a 560hp GT3 engine, while having low downforce more similar to the GT4 category. The first GT2 race was a Porsche single-make event at the 2019 24 Hours of Spa, fielding the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport alongside a few Porsche 935s. A second GT2 car, the Audi R8 LMS GT2, also made it’s public debut at the same time. The R ...

Gentleman Driver
A pay driver is a driver for a professional auto racing team who, instead of being paid by the owner of their car, drives for free and brings with them either personal sponsorship or personal or family funding to finance the team's operations. This may be done to gain on-track experience or to live the lifestyle of a driver in a particular series when one's talent or credentials do not merit a paying ride. Alternatively, said person is also called a ride buyer or a rich kid in the United States, a gentleman driver in sports car and GT racing and a privateer in Australia. Pay drivers have been the norm in many of the feeder series of motorsport, particularly in Formula 2, Formula 3, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and Indy Lights. However, there have been many pay drivers in top level series like Formula One, Champ Car, IndyCar Series, and the NASCAR Cup Series. British GT Championship
The British GT Championship is a sports car racing series based predominantly in the United Kingdom. The series was originally created by the British Racing Drivers' Club in 1993 and, for its first two seasons, was known as the National Sports GT Challenge. The series is currently run by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation, while Pirelli began its first season as the championship's official sole tyre supplier in 2016. Two classes currently compete in the championship: GT3 and GT4. A consolidation of GT regulations and significant manufacturer support saw British GT first introduce a GT3 class in 2005. The category later mirrored FIA Group GT3 and used near-identical regulations to the FIA GT3 European Championship from 2006 onwards. GT3 rules include extensive Balance of Performance and handicap weights to make cars artificially more equal. Cost-saving measures saw the series' previous premier class, GT2, phased out at the end of 2006. The SRO GT4 class was adopted in 2008 intended ...
