SPI International (a CANAL+ company) is an international media company based in the Netherlands. It is owned by Canal+ Group. It operates 42 TV channels, multiple digital products across six continents, and is a major player in content distribution and broadcasting worldwide. The company operates multiple free to air and pay TV channels in CEE, Western Europe, CIS and Adria regions including key European markets such as Poland, Czechia, Romania, Serbia, and the Netherlands. SPI’s brands include FilmBox+ and Dizi streaming services. SPI also owns and operates the brand assets of Film1 premium movie services in The Netherlands, including four linear channels and an on-demand service. Groupe Canal+
Groupe Canal+ is a French mass media company. It is owned and controlled by Vivendi and has a film library in excess of 5,000 films. Vivendi has sold some parts of Canal+ to private investors which are still using the name of Canal+. It is headquartered in Issy-les-Moulineaux, in the suburbs of Paris. The ''Wall Street Journal'' described Canal+ as "the French film industry's biggest financial backer, beloved by French cineastes". It is a major source of finance for domestic film production, participating in the financing of the vast majority of films produced in France. It also has its own subsidiary companies with direct involvement in film production. Film1
''Film1'' is a Dutch premium television and video on demand service that replaced Canal+ and is owned by SPI International (previously owned by Liberty Global and Sony Pictures Television). Background The service launched with three channels and a high-definition and timeshift version of the main channel. On 1 October 2008 ''Film1 Action'' was added to the line up. ''Film1 Series'' started on 17 January 2012 when it replaced the 1 hour timeshift channel ''Film1 Premiere +1''. On 20 September 2012 Film1 announced that they would be launching an online GO service with Tvinci. On 31 January 2012, Film1 announced that it would launch ''Sundance Channel'' in the Netherlands, by replacing the '' Film1 Festival'' on 1 March of the same year. MotionBuilder is a 3D character animation software produced by Autodesk. It is used for virtual cinematography, motion capture, and traditional keyframe animation. It was originally named Filmbox when it was first created by Canadian company Kaydara, later acquired by Alias and renamed to MotionBuilder. Alias in turn was acquired by Autodesk. Initially Film1 Drama started as Film1 Series on 17 January 2012 when it replaced the 1 hour timeshift channel Film1 Premiere +1, focusing on television series.
