Roland SP-555
The Roland SP-555 is a discontinued music sampler manufactured by Roland Corporation. The 555 is part of the SP family, which includes Boss’s popular SP-303 and Roland's SP-404 installments. The sampler was released in 2008. Features The SP-555 has a microphone input that accepts 1/4 inch phone type, XLR type, and Hi-Z. The SP-555 also incorporates a loop capture setting, which allows looping samples that one can add to until recording is stopped. A total of 37 built-in effects can be assigned to 16 pressure-sensitive pads. Craig Jones (born February 11, 1972), also known as 133, is an American musician. He is the sampler and keyboardist for the heavy metal band Slipknot, in which he is designated #5. Jones joined the band in early 1996, shortly after the band had finished the recording of its demo album ''Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.''. Initially, he was brought in to replace Donnie Steele, one of the two original guitarist, though he quickly moved on to the role of sampling and keyboards. A sampler is an electronic or digital musical instrument which uses sound recordings (or " samples") of real instrument sounds (e.g., a piano, violin, trumpet, or other synthesizer), excerpts from recorded songs (e.g., a five-second bass guitar riff from a funk song) or found sounds (e.g., sirens and ocean waves). The samples are loaded or recorded by the user or by a manufacturer.
