SMK Mahsuri
SMK Mahsuri or officially, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Mahsuri, is a public secondary school located at the heart of Kuah, Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia. The majority of the students in this school are enrolled in 10 semesters (5 school years) of preparatory courses before taking the national exam known as the Malaysian Certificate of Education. whereas some students who choose to pursue Sixth Form usually undergo one and a half more years of schooling. Science courses including Biology, Chemistry and Physics are usually not offered here. The school has always been widely recognized as the most culturally diverse school within the local community. Kuah, Langkawi, Kedah
Kuah, Kuah Town or Bandar Kuah is a resort town, mukim and district capital of Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia. It is the entry point for those coming by ferry from either the mainland or Penang Island. The town is centered on its jetty, which is a point of arrival for tourists from the mainland. Kuah has become a major town due to the growth of visitors after Langkawi developed into a tourist centre since 1986. There are a number of hotels in Kuah but it has no resorts, as the town has no proper beach despite being located by the sea. The nightlife in Kuah consists mostly of eating out in seafood restaurants. The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), or the Malaysian Certificate of Education, is a national examination taken by all fifth-form secondary school students in Malaysia. It is the equivalent of the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the Nationals 4/5 of Scotland, and the GCE Ordinary Level (O Level) of the Commonwealth of Nations. SMK Tunku Putra
The SMK was an armored vehicle prototype developed by the Soviet Union prior to the Second World War. It was named after Sergei Mironovich Kirov, a Communist Party official assassinated in 1934. The SMK was discovered and classified by German intelligence as the T-35C, leading to the misunderstanding that the T-35 took part in the Winter War. Only one was built and after a trial showing the downsides of its weight and size against the KV tank and brief use in the war with Finland, the project was dropped. Design and development The SMK was among the designs competing to replace the unreliable and expensive T-35 multi-turreted heavy tank. Mahsuri
Mahsuri binti Pandak Mayah was a young woman who lived in Pulau Langkawi, an island in northwestern Kedah, Malaysia, during the late 18th century. According to folklore, she was accused of adultery and executed by stabbing. Her tomb, ''Makam Mahsuri'', has become a tourist attraction on the island. Legend Mahsuri was the daughter of a Siamese who moved from their native Phuket Province to the island of Langkawi in search of a better life. She was the most beautiful woman in all of Langkawi and married the warrior Wan Darus. As was required of him, her husband had to go to war on behalf of Kedah against Thailand, leaving Mahsuri behind to fend for herself.
