SLO Transit is the provider of mass transportation in the city of San Luis Obispo, California. SLO Transit operates 10 vehicles at peak along eight fixed-routes within the 23 square miles of the city limits of San Luis Obispo and California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly). SLO Transit operates Monday to Friday approximately from 6am to 11pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 8pm. SLO Transit's ridership has increased steadily. It transports over 1.1 million riders annually. SLO Transit ridership demographics reflect a broad cross section of riders, including: seniors, people with disabilities, socially or economic transit dependent, K-12 students, college students, working professionals and choice riders. Gillig Phantom
The Gillig Phantom is a series of buses that was produced by an American manufacturer Gillig Corporation in Hayward, California. The successor to the long-running Gillig Transit Coach model line, the Phantom marked the transition of Gillig from a producer of yellow school buses to that of transit buses. The first transit bus assembled entirely by Gillig (from 1977 to 1979, the company assembled a few buses in a joint venture with Neoplan), the Phantom was produced exclusively as a high-floor bus (with step entrance). The Alexander Dennis Enviro500 (previously known as the TransBus Enviro500) is a three-axle double-decker bus built by Alexander Dennis (formerly by TransBus) in the United Kingdom. It was unveiled in 2002 and is one of the Enviro-series bus models made by TransBus/Alexander Dennis. The bus was sold on diesel or hybrid-electric powertrains and on Volvo chassis as a bodywork.
