SK Vidar
Sportsklubben Vidar is a Norwegian sports club from Oslo. It has sections for track and field, triathlon, and archery. Organization The club was founded in 1919. It was later a member of the Workers' Sports Federation before the war. It arranges Oslo Marathon, and also the Grete Waitz Run from 1984 to 2003 and the cross-country skiing race Vidar Run from 1933 to 1993. Together with the clubs IK Tjalve and IL i BUL it forms the "Bislett Alliance", which arranges the Bislett Games. The Bislett Alliance also hosted the Norwegian Championships in 2006. Athletic history Throwing SK Vidar has been an important club in the men's javelin throw event for many years. Terje Pedersen took his first of four Norwegian championships in 1960, and later set a world record. Per Erling Olsen won in the years 1980 through 1984, and Øystein Slettevold in 1986. Bislett Stadion
Bislett Stadium ( no, Bislett stadion) is a sports stadium in Oslo, Norway. Bislett is Norway's most well known sports arena internationally, with 15 speed skating world records and more than 50 track and field world records having been set here. The original stadium was demolished in 2004 and construction of a new stadium was completed by the summer of 2005. The New Bislett Stadium was designed by C.F. Møller Architects. History Bislett Stadium lies on the site of a 19th-century brick works, which was bought by the Municipality of Kristiania (Oslo) in 1898, and turned into a sports field in 1908. The merchant, speed skater, gymnast and sports organizer Martinus Lørdahl was instrumental in facilitating the construction of the first bleachers, begun in 1917 and completed in 1922 along with the new club house. Hanne Haugland
Hanne Haugland (born 14 December 1967 in Haugesund) is a former Norwegian high jumper. She represented the clubs Haugesund IL, IL i BUL, SK Vidar and IF Minerva during her senior career. In her early international career she finished eleventh at the 1987 European Indoor Championships and the 1989 World Indoor Championships and thirteenth at the 1988 European Indoor Championships. Her first international medal came at the 1989 European Indoor Championships where she won a silver with a jump of 1.96 metres. Jan Gulbrandsen
Jan Gulbrandsen (29 May 1938 – 4 September 2007) was a Norwegian hurdler, politician and sports official. His main event was the 400 metres hurdles. He became Norwegian champion in the event from 1957 through 1964, and won a silver medal in 1965. He held the Norwegian record between 1958 and 1960, with 51.5 as the best time, achieved in 1964. His best electronic time was 52.40 seconds. He competed in 400 metres hurdles at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, but was knocked out in the semi-final. At both the 1958 and 1962 European Championships he was knocked out in the heats. In the 110 metres hurdles he became Norwegian champion in 1960, 1961 and 1962 before the rivals Weum/ Fimland started their more-than-decade-long dominance. Atle Douglas (born 9 June 1968 in Oxford, England) is a retired Norwegian middle-distance runner who specialized in the 800 metres. He represented BFG Fana, SK Vidar, Bergen FIK, IL Gular and IL Norna-Salhus during his active career. He finished eighth at the 1994 European Championships. Grete Waitz
Grete Waitz (, 1 October 195319 April 2011) was a Norwegian marathon runner and former world record holder. In 1979, at the New York City Marathon, she became the first woman in history to run the marathon in under two and a half hours. Waitz won nine New York City Marathons, women's division, between 1978 and 1988, the highest number of victories in a single big city marathon in history. She won the silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and a gold medal at the 1983 World Championships in Helsinki. She was also a five-time winner of the World Cross Country Championships. Leif Olve Dolonen Larsen (born April 3, 1975) is a Norwegian athlete who has competed in shot put, American football and professional boxing. Shot put In shot putting, Larsen finished thirteenth at the 1992 World Junior Championships and fourth at the 1994 World Junior Championships. His last international athletics competition was the 1997 European under-23 Championships, where he finished eighth. His personal best throw was 18.76 metres, achieved in April 1997 in Baton Rouge.
