SJPF Young Player Of The Month
The SJPF Young Player of the Month (often called Portuguese League Young Player of the Month) is an association football award that recognizes the best Portuguese League young player each month of the season and is conceived by the SJPF (syndicate of professional football players). The award has been presented since the 2003–04 season and the recipient is based on individual scores assigned by the three national sports dailies (''A Bola'', '' Record'' and ''O Jogo''). The first winner of the award was João Moutinho in October 2006. Moutinho has won the award a record six times. Only Portuguese players under age 23 are in contention to win the award. LuÃs Carlos Almeida da Cunha (born 17 November 1986), commonly known as Nani (), is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a winger for A-League Men club Melbourne Victory. Miguel LuÃs Pinto Veloso (; born 11 May 1986) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for and captains Italian club Hellas Verona. Mainly a defensive midfielder, he can also operate as an attacking left-back. Yannick dos Santos Djaló (born 5 May 1986) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays mainly as a forward but also as a winger. He played most of his professional career with Sporting after reaching the club's youth system at the age of 15, going on to appear in more than 150 official games and win four major titles. Silvestre Manuel Gonçalves Varela (born 2 February 1985) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for FC Porto B as a winger. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders.
