SIG Basket
Strasbourg Illkirch-Graffenstaden Basket, most commonly known as SIG Basket or SIG Strasbourg, is a French professional basketball club that is based in Strasbourg. The club, founded in 1929, competes domestically in the French Pro A League, and internationally in the Basketball Champions League. The club's home games are played at Rhénus Sport. The players wear white and red uniforms. History The club was founded in 1929, and reached the top-tier of French basketball for the first time in 1938. Starting from the 2004–05 season, new head coach Éric Girard took over the team. In the regular season, SIG finished 3rd and Giard was named Coach of the Year. LNB Pro A
The LNB Pro A, currently known for sponsorship reasons as Betclic Élite, is the top-tier men's professional basketball league in France. The competition has existed since 1921. Since 1987, the Ligue Nationale de Basket has governed the league. The bottom two placed teams from each season are relegated to the second tier level Pro B. The winner of the play-offs of the Pro A is crowned the French national champion. Competition format All 16 Pro A League teams play each other twice during the regular season. At the end of the regular season, the top eight teams qualify for the playoffs. The two teams with the worst regular season records are relegated to the 2nd-tier Pro B. DeAndre John Lansdowne (born June 6, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for SIG Strasbourg of the LNB Pro A. He played high school basketball at Sandia High School in Albuquerque, and then played college basketball with the Fort Lewis Skyhawks in the NCAA Division II. After graduating in 2011, Lansdowne took a break from his basketball career until 2015, when he signed a contract with Pioneros de Delicias, a minor Mexican team. Rodions Kurucs (born 5 February 1998) is a Latvian professional basketball player for SIG Strasbourg of the French LNB Pro A. At tall, he plays the small forward position. The Ligue nationale de basket (LNB; English: National Basketball League) is the governing body of men's professional club basketball in France. Stade Lorrain Université Club Nancy Basket, commonly referred to as SLUC Nancy Basket, is a French professional basketball club based in Nancy. The 2020–21 Basketball Champions League was the 5th season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), the premier European-wide professional basketball competition for clubs launched and managed by FIBA. The 2020–21 Pro A season, for sponsorships reasons the Jeep Élite, was the 99th season of the Pro A, the top basketball league in France organised by the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB).
