Shazam (), often referred as simple The Wizard, is is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by both Fawcett Comics and DC Comics. He is not to be confused with his champion Shazam/Captain Marvel, the former bestowing powers on the latter as detailed in the 1940s Whiz Comics. Originally, Shazam was a powerful wizard whose original name was Jebediah, originating from Canaan and was bestowed the powers of gods based upon a fictional depiction of Canaanite religion. ''Shazzan'' is an American animated television series created by Alex Toth and produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions that aired on Saturday mornings on CBS from September 9, 1967 to January 20, 1968, and continued in reruns until September 6, 1969.
