SH-109 (OK)
State Highway 109 (abbreviated SH-109 or OK-109) is a 54 mile (87 km) long state highway in southern Oklahoma. It runs through southern Choctaw County, connecting to US-70 at each end. It has no lettered spur routes. Route description The highway begins heading southbound from US-70 at Boswell. It turns westbound after about 5 miles (8 km). As it approaches the Red River, it turns back northward and then eastward again to run through unincorporated Gay, 24 miles (38.6 km) into the route. Six miles (9.65 km) later, it meets U.S. Highway 271 and has a concurrency with it lasting about 4 miles (6.4 km), splitting off near Ord. Between Frogville and Huskey it turns back north before ending at US-70 near Fort Towson. Gay is an unincorporated community in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, United States. History A post office was established at Lenton, Indian Territory on October 22, 1901. Its name changed to Gay, Oklahoma on April 28, 1908. The post office closed on December 31, 1932. The community is said to have been named after the town of Gay, Georgia. US 271
U.S. Route 271 (US 271, US-271) is a north–south United States highway. Never a long highway, it went from bi-state route (Arkansas and Oklahoma) to a tri-state route (Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas). Its southern terminus is in Tyler, Texas, at an intersection with State Highway 31 and SH 155. The highway's northern terminus is in Fort Smith, Arkansas, at an intersection with Business U.S. Route 71 and Highway 255. It enters Arkansas from Oklahoma as a controlled-access highway, but the highway continues as Interstate 540 when US 271 exits toward downtown after in Arkansas. U.S. Route 70 or U.S. Highway 70 (US 70) is an east–west United States highway that runs for from eastern North Carolina to east-central Arizona. It is a major east–west highway of the Southeastern, Southern and Southwestern United States. A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons.
