SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd., formerly known as Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. is an automobile manufacturing company headquartered in Anting, Shanghai, China and a joint venture between Volkswagen Group and SAIC Motor. It was founded in 1984 and produces cars under the Volkswagen, Å koda Auto, Å koda and Audi marques. It is the second automobile manufacturing joint venture in China after American Motors and the first German car manufacturer to enter China. The joint venture is made up of equity from Volkswagen AG (40%), Volkswagen (China) Invest (10%), SAIC Motor (50%), with a fixed-term venture for 45 years. It will run until 2030. The Volkswagen Lamando () is a compact sedan manufactured by Volkswagen through its joint venture SAIC Volkswagen in China. It debuted at the Chengdu Auto Show in August 2014 and was launched in China in November 2014. Å koda Karoq
The Å koda Karoq is a compact crossover SUV (C-segment) designed and built by the Czech car manufacturer Å koda Auto. Introduced in 2017, the vehicle is based on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform, and replaced the Å koda Yeti. The car slots between the smaller Å koda Kamiq and the larger Å koda Kodiaq. The name Karoq is derived from Aleutian language, spoken by the native inhabitants of Alaskan island Kodiak. It is a combination of Aleutian words "kaa'raq" and "ruq", a car and an arrow, which are the elements of the Å koda logo.
