SAFF Women's Championship
The SAFF Women's Championship, also called the ''South Asian Football Federation Women's Cup'', is the main association football competition of the women's national football teams, governed by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). All seven members are eligible to participate in this tournament. History The current SAFF members are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Formerly, eight members used to compete, prior to the departure of Afghanistan from SAFF. It is held every two years. India won first 5 edition so far, beating Nepal four times and Bangladesh once in the final. Bangladesh is the current champion having defeated Nepal by 3–1 goals on 19 September 2022 in the final. South Asian Football Federation (SAFF), founded in 1997, is an association of the football playing nations in South Asia and is part of the larger Asian Football Confederation. The members of the association are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. History The SAFF was founded in 1997, with Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In 2000, they expanded to 7 members, adding Bhutan. In 2005, Afghanistan joined too, but later, left in 2015, to join then newly formed Central Asian Football Association. Yumnam Kamala Devi (born 4 March 1992) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder and an occasional striker for the Indian team. She currently plays for Eastern Sporting Union in the Indian Women's League. Sasmita Mallik (born 10 April 1989, in Aali, Odisha, Aul, Kendrapara) is an Indian women's association football, footballer who played as a Midfielder, left winger for India women's national football team. Bala Devi
Ngangom Bala Devi (born 2 February 1990) is an Indian women's footballer who plays as a forward for India women's national football team. Club career Born in Manipur, Devi grew up playing the game with mainly boys. She was a part of the Manipur U-19 team that took part in the Under-19 Women's Championship in Assam in 2002. After the tournament she was declared the best player of the tournament. She was awarded the same title the next year in 2003. She also earned top-scorer awards at the under-17 level for her state. Maymol Rocky (born 19 May 1984) is an Indian football manager and former footballer and currently the head coach of the India women's under-20 football team.
