Madras Municipal Airport , formerly City-County Airport, is a public use airport located three nautical miles (6 km) northwest of the central business district of Madras, a city in Jefferson County, Oregon, United States. According to the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2009–2013, it is classified as a ''general aviation'' airport. History Originally known as Madras Army Air Field, this was a World War II Army Air Corps training base for B-17 Flying Fortress and Bell P-63 Kingcobras. In 2000, the airport began hosting the annual Airshow of the Cascades. The Erickson Aircraft Collection moved from the Tillamook Air Museum to the Madras Airport in 2014. The Sikorsky S-33 Messenger was an American two-seat sesqiuplane designed and built by the Sikorsky Manufacturing Corporation in 1925. The first of two examples built participated in the Sixth Pulitzer Trophy Race at Mitchel Field, Long Island, New York on October 12, 1925 and was piloted by Al Krapish, an employee of Sikorsky. The first aircraft is reported to have been powered by a Wright Gale of and the second by a Lawrance L-3 of . These were essentially the same engine type, post- and pre- acquisition of the Lawrance Aero Engine Company by the Wright Aeronautical Corporation, respectively. Spectrum S-33 Independence
The Spectrum S-33 Independence is a very light jet designed and built by Spectrum Aeronautical using a carbon fiber construction process that makes the airplane weigh about two thirds as much as a comparably sized aluminum-frame airplane. The aircraft is designed to cruise at 45,000 ft. at speeds up to 415 knots (Mach 0.72) and fly as far as 2000 nm (3700 km) while using about half the fuel of comparably sized aluminum-framed business aircraft. FAA and JAA Type Certifications of the S-33 Independence were expected to be completed in 2009, but were not. The company has provided no press releases to explain the long delay in gaining certification. Suffolk County Transit operates a number of bus routes in Suffolk County, New York, United States; a few in the town of Huntington are operated by Huntington Area Rapid Transit. The Villages of Patchogue and Port Jefferson, also have had their own local jitney bus routes, although budget cuts have forced Port Jefferson to take its buses out of service.
