S1 Artspace is a not-for-profit arts organisation based in Sheffield, England, presenting an annual programme of contemporary exhibitions, commissions, screenings and events. S1 Artspace also provides studio space for contemporary artists at varying stages in their careers, from recent graduates to established artists working at an international level. S1 Artspace is a nationally recognised organisation, renowned for providing a platform for experimentation and for supporting the development of new work in a wide variety of media through artists’ residencies, commissions, and an annual studio holders exhibition. Over its 28 year history, S1 Artspace has presented work by over 450 artists and accommodated over 150 artists through its studios from Martin Clark, artistic director at Tate St Ives to Haroon Mirza, Northern Art Prize and Silver Lion Award Winner at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011. Site Gallery is an art gallery in Sheffield, England. It specialises in moving image, new media and performance based art. Site Gallery is based at Brown Street in Sheffield's Cultural Industries Quarter. It is an international centre for contemporary art, and has extensive programme of exhibitions, conferences, artists talks and festivals. The gallery's exhibitions often coincide with a public programme including artist talks, symposia, screenings, workshops and reading groups. It was originally called Untitled Gallery. The Designers Republic
The Designers Republic (also tDR, and styled as The Designers Republic™) is a British graphic design studio based in Sheffield, England, founded in 1986 by Ian Anderson and Nick Phillips. They are best known for electronic music logos, album artwork, and anti-establishment aesthetics, embracing "brash consumerism and the uniform style of corporate brands". Work by tDR is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum. The studio in its larger form closed in January 2009, with Anderson stating it would continue in a more "slimline" form. Style Work by the Designers Republic generally is viewed as "playful and bright" and considered Maximum-minimalist, mixing images from Japanese anime and subvertised corporate logos, with a postmodern tendency towards irony.
