Syv Dage For Elisabeth
''Syv dage for Elisabeth'' (Seven Days for Elizabeth) is a Norwegian silent film comedy from 1927 directed by Leif Sinding. The screenplay was written by Sinding and Arvid Skappel, and it was based on Skappel's novella ''Påskeflirt''. Sonja Henie played a bit part in the film. The censors removed a closeup of a female dancer, the text ''Jeg vil, men først vi je ha dig sel'' 'I want to, but first I want you myself', and a brawl scene. Plot The young hairdresser Elisabeth Borg wins first prize in a lottery and decides to spend Easter at a resort in the mountains. She and her friend Lucie spend some luxurious days there. The scoundrel Franz Markel tries some mischief against Elisabeth, but he is revealed by the millionaire's son Rolf Heller, who gives the villain his just deserts. Rolf and Elisabeth are engaged, and on top of that Elisabeth finds her father, Consul Heie, whom she did not know before. Leif Sinding
Leif Sinding (19 November 1895 – 13 May 1985) was a Norwegian film director and journalist. He worked for the newspapers ''Verdens Gang'', ''Aftenposten'', and ''Morgenbladet''. Among his silent films are ''Himmeluret'' from 1925, based on Gabriel Scott's comedy, and ''Fjeldeventyret'' from 1926. He directed the film ''Bra mennesker'' (1937), based on a play by Oskar Braaten, and the films ''De vergeløse'' (1939) and ''Tante Pose'' (1940), both based on novels by Gabriel Scott. In 1941 he directed the comedy '' Kjærlighet og vennskap''. During the German occupation of Norway Sinding collaborated with the Axis forces, was a member of Nasjonal Samling, and was sentenced to four years forced labour after the war. Henry Gleditsch
Henry Cochrane Williamsen Gleditsch (9 November 1902 – 6 October 1942) was a Norwegian actor and theatre director. He was born in Kristiania. In his young days he participated in skiing for SFK Lyn. He married Synnøve Tanvik in 1932. He made his acting debut in 1923, and in 1937 he established and took charge of Trøndelag Teater in Trondheim. He had a satirical style, provoking the authorities of the Occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. People warned him and advised him to flee to Sweden, but he did not do so. Following skirmishes in Majavatn and sabotages in Glomfjord and Malm, conducted by the Norwegian resistance movement, martial law was declared on 6 October 1942 in and around Trondheim, in Nord-Trøndelag and in Grane. The National Library of Norway ( no, Nasjonalbiblioteket) was established in 1989. Its principal task is "to preserve the past for the future". The library is located both in Oslo and in Mo i Rana. Lizzie Florelius
Lizzie Florelius (September 19, 1886 – December 30, 1975) was a Norwegian actress. Florelius was born in Kristiania (now Oslo). She had her film debut in 1923 in ''Strandhugg paa Kavringen'', in which she played the wife of the main character, Silas. She appeared in another silent film in 1927, ''Syv dager for Elisabeth''. After that she acted in three sound films: ''Bra mennesker'' (1937), ''De vergeløse'' (1939), and ''Ut av mørket'' (1958). She was also active in the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation's radio theater, and in 1926 she played in the first Norwegian radio broadcast of ''Peer Gynt''. Florelius died in 1975 and is buried in Our Savior's Cemetery in Oslo. Arne Svendsen
Arne Svendsen (11 December 1884 – 20 November 1958) was a Norwegian songwriter, actor and revue writer. Career Svendsen was born in Fosnes in Nord-Trøndelag, Norway. In 1910, he left home and settled in Fredrikstad, where he first worked as a hairdresser and barber. In 1911, he wrote his first revue for the ''Fredrikstad Arbeiderforening'', followed by five new revues annually until 1920. From 1921, Svendsen was associated with Chat Noir, a cabaret and revue theatre in Oslo. He wrote the revue, ''Midt i planeten'' together with Per Kvist in 1922. He also collaborated with song writer Finn Bo (1927–36). From 1937 he worked with teams of various revue writers including Bias Bernhoft, Arild Feldborg and Erik Diesen. They wrote music for revues which appeared at Det Nye Teater, Carl Johan Theater, and Edderkoppen Theatre, and with more irregular intervals for Chat Noir.
