Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy Of Thamarassery
The Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Thamarassery is an Eastern Catholic eparchy in India, under the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. It was created on 28 April 1986. On Monday, 18 January 2010, the Synod of Bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church, meeting at Mt. St. Thomas (with the assent of the Holy See) appointed Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil, secretary and chancellor of Thamarassery, and judge of the major archiepiscopal tribunal, as the new bishop. Mar Paul Chittilapilly was the bishop emeritus of the diocese and he died on 6th September 2020. Mar Remigius Inchananiyil was consecrated on 8 April 2010. The bishop's House is situated near chavara hospital thamarassery. The Syro-Malabar Catholic Archeparchy of Thalassery (anglicised - Tellicherry) is an archeparchy of the Syro-Malabar Church in communion with the See of Rome. The boundaries of the Thalassery ecclesiastical province were extended to include Mangalore, Chickmangalore, Mysore, Shimoga and Ootty as there were settlers in the neighbouring States. The diocese covers an area of 18,000 km² and a Catholic population of 273,826. Since 2022, Joseph Pamplany is the Metropolitan Archbishop. The ecclesiastical province came into existence on 31 December 1953 through the Papal bull ''Ad Christi Ecclesiam Regendam'' issued by Pope Pius XII. The boundaries of the new diocese were the same as those of the Latin Diocese of Calicut. The Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church is the head of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic Church within the Catholic Church, and the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Archeparchy of Ernakulam-Angamalay in Kerala, India. Sacred Heart Forane Church () is a Syro-Malabar Roman Catholic church situated in Thiruvambady, Kozhikode District, Kerala, India. Remigius Inchananiyil
Remigiose Inchananiyil (born 26 July 1961) is a Syro-Malabar Catholic bishop. He is the fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Thamarassery. Biography He was born on 26 July 1961 at Vettilappara, in Malappuram district. His parents Inchananiyil Paul and Rosamma migrated to Malabar in the year 1959. Remigiose has six brothers and a sister. He had his primary education at Vettilappara L.P. School and Moorkkanad U.P.School. Having completed his high school education at Areacode, he joined St. Joseph's Minor Seminary, Tellichery for priestly formation. He did his philosophical and theological studies at St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Vadavathoor, Kottayam.
