Synchronicity
Synchronicity (german: Synchronizität) is a concept first introduced by analytical psychologist Carl G. Jung "to describe circumstances that appear meaningfully related yet lack a causal connection." In contemporary research, synchronicity experiences refer to one's subjective experience that coincidences between events in one's mind and the outside world may be causally unrelated to each other yet have some other unknown connection. Jung held that this was a healthy, even necessary, function of the human mind that can become harmful within psychosis. Jung developed the theory of synchronicity as a hypothetical noncausal principle serving as the intersubjective or philosophically objective connection between these seemingly meaningful coincidences. Mainstream science generally regards that any such hypothetical principle either does not exist or falls outside the bounds of science. After first coining the term in the late 1920s or early 30s, Jung further developed the conc ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

The episode was written by Michael Duggan from a story by Duggan and Michael Golamco, and was directed by David Solomon. Plot Opening quote: " In all chaos there is a cosmos, in all disorder a secret order." Nick (David Giuntoli) tells Hank (Russell Hornsby) that he is unsure about attending Monroe's ( Silas Weir Mitchell) wedding as the Wesen could recognize him as a Grimm and decides to tell him that he can't go because of the risk of getting exposed. In Switzerland, Adalind (Claire Coffee) and Meisner are still running from the Verrat. Meisner leaves Adalind to go after the Verrat. However, Adalind is intercepted by the Verrat and taken to a car. Then, the Verrat agents are killed by Kelly (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), who was told to save her. Meisner takes Adalind and Kelly to a plan ... Synchronization
Synchronization is the coordination of events to operate a system in unison. For example, the conductor of an orchestra keeps the orchestra synchronized or ''in time''. Systems that operate with all parts in synchrony are said to be synchronous or ''in sync''—and those that are not are '' asynchronous''. Today, time synchronization can occur between systems around the world through satellite navigation signals and other time and frequency transfer techniques. Navigation and railways Time-keeping and synchronization of clocks is a critical problem in long-distance ocean navigation. Before radio navigation and satellite-based navigation, navigators required accurate time in conjunction with astronomical observations to determine how far east or west their vessel traveled. The invention of an accurate marine chronometer revolutionized marine navigation. By the end of the 19th century, important ports provided time signals in the form of a signal gun, flag, or dropping time ... Synchronizer (other)
The term synchronizer may refer to: * In automobiles, a synchronizer is part of a synchromesh manual transmission that allows the smooth engagement of gears. * In aerial warfare, a synchronizer is a device that permits an automatic weapon to fire between the blades of a revolving propeller. * In electronics, an arbiter helps order signals in asynchronous circuits. There are also electronic digital circuits called ''synchronizers'' that attempt to perform arbitration in one clock cycle. Synchronizers, unlike arbiters, are prone to failure. (See metastability in electronics.) * In electronics, whenever there is signal transfer between two systems operating at different frequencies or same frequency with different phases, synchronizer block is used as an interface so that signal from transmitter block is reliably interpreted by the receiver. The block usually uses metastable hardened flops offering single or double latency delays at the output. This block ensures that there is ... Synchronicity (film)
''Synchronicity'' is a 2015 American science fiction film written, directed, and edited by Jacob Gentry. It stars Chad McKnight, A. J. Bowen, Brianne Davis, Scott Poythress, and Michael Ironside. McKnight plays a physicist who invents a time machine and becomes suspicious that others may be trying to steal the technology. It premiered at the 2015 Fantasia International Film Festival and had a limited release in theaters and on video on demand and iTunes on January 22, 2016. Plot Physicist Jim Beale, working with two colleagues (Chuck and Matty), invents a machine that makes time travel possible. The machine operates by creating one half of a wormhole during one run, the other half during a second run. The process is expensive and dangerous. To activate the process requires radioactive material created by KMC — a company owned by Klaus Meisner, a venture capitalist. If the material is mishandled as part of the process, the machine will malfunction — creating a devastating e ... Synchronicity (The Police Album)
''Synchronicity'' is the fifth and final studio album by English rock band the Police, released on 17 June 1983 by A&M Records. The band's most successful release, the album includes the hit singles "Every Breath You Take", "King of Pain", "Wrapped Around Your Finger", and "Synchronicity II". The album's title and much of the material for the songs were inspired by Arthur Koestler's ''The Roots of Coincidence''. At the 1984 Grammy Awards the album was nominated for a total of five awards, including Album of the Year, and won three. At the time of its release and following its tour, the Police's popularity was at such a high that they were arguably, according to BBC and ''The Guardian'', the "biggest band in the world". ''Synchronicity'' reached number one on both the UK Albums Chart and the US ''Billboard'' 200, and sold over eight million copies in the US. The album was widely acclaimed by critics. Praise centred on its cohesive merging of disparate genres and sonic experim ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Synchronicity (book)
''Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle'', by Carl Gustav Jung, is a book published by Princeton University Press in 1960. It was extracted from '' Structure & Dynamics of the Psyche'', which is volume 8 in '' The Collected Works of C. G. Jung''. The book was also published in 1985 by Routledge. To Jung, synchronicity is a meaningful coincidence in time, a psychic factor which is independent of space and time. This revolutionary concept of synchronicity both challenges and complements the physicist's classical view of causality. It also forces a basic reconsideration of the meaning of chance, probability, coincidence and the singular events in our lives. Jung was intrigued from early in his career with coincidences, especially those surprising juxtapositions that scientific rationality could not adequately explain. He discussed these ideas with Albert Einstein before World War I, but first used the term ''synchronicity'' in a 1930 lecture, in reference to the unusual psy ...
