Swoop (Belgian Band)
Swoop is a Belgian party band, with Filip D'haeze as lead singer. It was formed in 2001 and continued until 2006. Additional members included Iris Maschelein, Kim Gyselinck, Nathalie Taling. They were signed to RELI Records and starting 2005 ARS Entertainment. The band was revived in 2010 after 4 years of break-up. It also had a newcomer in the 2010 set-up, namely Jolien Mory. "Cielito Lindo" is a popular Mexican song '' copla'', popularized in 1882 by Mexican author Quirino Mendoza y Cortés (c. 1862–1957). It is roughly translated as "Lovely Sweet One". Although the word ''cielo'' means "sky" or "heaven", it is also a term of endearment comparable to "sweetheart" or "honey." ''Cielito'', the diminutive, can be translated as "sweetie"; ''lindo'' means "cute", "lovely" or "pretty". Sometimes the song is known by words from the refrain, "Canta y no llores" or simply the "Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay song". Commonly played by mariachi bands, it has been recorded by many artists in the original Spanish as well as in English and other languages. "Paloma Blanca" (Spanish for "white dove"), often called "Una Paloma Blanca", is a song written by Dutch musician George Baker (under his real name, Johannes Bouwens) and first recorded and released by his band, George Baker Selection. Speedy Gonzales (song)
"Speedy Gonzales" is a 1961 David Dante alias David Hess song (RCA 8056) about Speedy Gonzales, "the fastest mouse in all Mexico". It was written by Buddy Kaye, Ethel Lee and David Hess. The David Dante original briefly entered the US Music Vendor chart in April 1961. Pat Boone version The song was popularised in the United States as a 1962 single by Pat Boone. The Boone version peaked at the No. 6 Billboard Hot 100 position in 1962 during a total chart run of 13 weeks, doing better in many national charts in Europe, where it sold a million copies. The female voice ("La-la-la...") on this song was of Robin Ward. It also incorporated Mel Blanc voicing Speedy Gonzales as he did in the Warner Brothers cartoons. Dante's version details a demand from a girl named Consuela to Speedy to stop roving about and take care of his neglected household.
