The swimming events at the 2010 South American Games were held from March 23, 25 and 26-29; and were grouped into two disciplines: (pool) swimming and open water swimming. Thiago Teixeira Simon (born April 3, 1990 in Penápolis) is a Brazilian swimmer. International career 2014–16 At the 2014 South American Games in Santiago, Chile, Simon won a silver medal in the 200-metre individual medley, and a bronze medal in the 400-metre individual medley. At the 2014 José Finkel Trophy in Guaratinguetá, Simon broke the short-course South American record in the 200-metre breaststroke, with a time of 2:04.28. At the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, Simon won a gold medal in the 200 metre breaststroke, with a time of 2:09.82, new Pan American Games record. Thiago Machado Vilela Pereira (born 26 January 1986) is a retired Brazilian international competition swimmer. One of the greatest swimmers in the history of Brazil, Pereira won the silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, beating the then-current Olympic champion Michael Phelps. He also broke a world record in the short course 200-meter individual medley, and broke several South American and Brazilian records. During his career, he competed with swimming legends Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte. Fernando Souza da Silva (born 7 April 1986 in Rio de Janeiro) is an Olympic and national record holding swimmer from Brazil. He swam for Brazil at the 2008 Olympics, as a member of the men's 4×100-metre freestyle relay. Until 2006, Fernando did not swim 50-metre and 100-metre freestyle; he was a butterfly stroke specialist. As he began to achieve good results in the faster swimming races, he became a sprinter and established himself as one of the best in his country. He competed at the 2006 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Shanghai, where he finished 17th in the 200-metre butterfly.
