Swimming At The 2010 Commonwealth Games – Women's 200 Metre Freestyle
The Women's 200 metre freestyle event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games took place on 4 October 2010, at the SPM Swimming Pool Complex. Four heats were held, with most containing the maximum number of swimmers (eight). The heat in which a swimmer competed did not formally matter for advancement, as the swimmers with the top eight times from the entire field qualified for the finals. The 2010 Commonwealth Games (Hindi: 2010 राष्ट्रमण्डल खेल), officially known as the XIX Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Delhi 2010, was an international multi-sport event that was held in Delhi, India, from 3 to 14 October 2010. Jazmin Carlin
Jazmin Roxy "Jazz" Carlin (born 17 September 1990) is a former British competitive swimmer, who previously represented Wales and the Great Britain swimming team. She competed primarily in endurance freestyle events, and was based at the University of Bath. She won gold for Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, double gold for Great Britain in the 400 metres and 800 metres freestyle at both the 2014 European Championships (long course) and the 2015 European Championships (short course) before winning two silver medals for Great Britain in the same events behind Katie Ledecky at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Sycerika McMahon (born 11 April 1995) is a retired Irish swimmer from Portaferry, County Down. McMahon won a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle at the 2010 European Junior Swimming Championships in Helsinki with a time of 4:15.92, an Irish junior record. In the 2011 Championships in Belgrade she won gold in the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:13.85 (more than 2 seconds faster than her time the previous year), another gold in the 50m breaststroke with a time of 32.00 (0.2 seconds faster the previous year's winner Lisa Fissneider), and a silver medal in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:00.61, 0.11 seconds behind Russian Ksenia Yuskova. Barbara Jardin (born October 22, 1991) is a Canadian competitive swimmer, who lives in Montreal. At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she finished 6th overall in the heats in the women's 200-metre freestyle, and narrowly missed qualifying for the finals in her semifinal, finishing 10th overall. She was also a member of the Canadian team that finished fourth in the final of the women's 4x200-metre freestyle relay. Jardin is a niece of Anne Jardin-Alexander, who won two bronze medals at the 1976 Summer Olympics. She took up swimming at the age of four, and belonged to the Cote des Neiges swimming club. Rebecca Adlington (born 17 February 1989) is a British former competitive swimmer who specialised in freestyle events in international competition. She won two gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 400-metre freestyle and 800-metre freestyle, breaking the 19-year-old world record of Janet Evans in the 800-metre final. Adlington was Britain's first Olympic swimming champion since 1988, and the first British swimmer to win two Olympic gold medals since 1908.
