The women's 1500 metre freestyle competition at the 2014 South American Games took place on March 10 at the Estadio Nacional. The last champion was Kristel Köbrich Kristel Arianne Köbrich Schimpl (born August 9, 1985 in Santiago, Chile) is an Olympic long-distance freestyle swimmer from Chile. She was the country's flag bearer at the 2004 Olympics, and also swam at the 2008 Games, 2012 Games and 2016 ... of Chile. This event was a timed-final where each swimmer swam just once. The top 8 seeded swimmers swam in the evening, and the remaining swimmers swam in the morning session. Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos (originally known as Estadio Nacional) is the national stadium of Chile, and is located in the Ñuñoa district of Santiago. It is the largest stadium in Chile with an official capacity of 48,665. It is part of a 62 hectare sporting complex which also features tennis courts, an aquatics center, a modern gymnasium, a velodrome, a BMX circuit, and an assistant ground/warmup athletics track. Construction began in February 1937 and the stadium was inaugurated on December 3, 1938. The architecture was based on the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.
