Beijing National Aquatics Center
The National Aquatics Centre (), and colloquially known as the Water Cube () and the Ice Cube (), is an aquatics center at the Olympic Green in Beijing, China. The facility was originally constructed to host the aquatics competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. During the Olympics — where it hosted diving, swimming and synchronized swimming events — 25 world records were broken in swimming. In July 2010, a renovation of the facility was completed, which included the addition of a public water park. With Beijing being awarded the 2022 Winter Olympics, the Water Cube became known as the Ice Cube as part of the Water Cube was renovated in 2019 to allow the hosting of curling events. Maksym Veraksa
Maksym Veraksa (born 14 August 1984) is a paralympic swimmer from Ukraine competing mainly in category S12 events. Career Maksym competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics as part of the Ukrainian Paralympic team. There he competed in five events winning five medals, four of them gold. In the 100m Backstroke he finished third behind Russia's Alexander Nevolin-Svetov and fellow Ukrainian Sergii Klippert who both swam quicker than the previous world record. Maksym however got revenge beating both athletes in the 50m and 100m freestyle, the 200m individual medley and beating Sergei in the 100m Breaststroke all in world record times. In the 2012 Summer Paralympics, 2012 Games in London he won a further four medals, three of them gold. Sergii Klippert (born 31 March 1989) is a Paralympic swimmer from Ukraine competing mainly in category S12 events. Swimming career Klippert has competed at three Paralympic games, in 2004, 2008 and 2012, winning a total of ten medals including two gold. In the 2004 games he competed in the 100m breaststroke, 200m individual medley and 400m freestyle as well as winning silver in the 100m backstroke behind Belarusian Raman Makarau who set a new Paralympic games record he was also part of the Ukrainian teams that won the 4 × 100 m freestyle and 4 × 100 m medley gold medals, both in world record times.
