Sway (British Musician)
Derek Andrew Safo (born 5 September 1982), better known by his stage name Sway or Sway DaSafo, is a British rapper of Ghanaian descent. He is also a producer, having established Dcypha Productions, signed to Island/Universal (label founder). Safo's 2008 track "Black Stars" gave kudos to popular Ghanaians across the diaspora. Sway's first big track, "On My Own" was released under the name Sway DaSafo. The Signature LP
''The Signature LP'' is Sway DaSafo's second album, released on 5 October 2008. Most of the album was produced by Sway with his Dcypha Productions team; other producers included Louis Gibzen, Guy Katsav and Akon. Background Plans for Sway's second album were made from the outset of his career. It was originally planned to be called ''This Is My Album'', continuing with the ''This Is My...'' series which Sway had used for the titles of his first mixtapes and debut album. It was originally scheduled to be released on 5 May 2008 but was pushed back to 5 October 2008 to accommodate "Silver and Gold" featuring Akon. Sway released a free mixtape, titled ''The Signature Mixtape'', to coincide with the album's release. The BET Hip Hop Awards are an annual awards show, airing on BET, showcasing hip hop performers, producers and music video directors. ''This Is My Demo'' is the debut album from British rapper Sway. It was released on 5 February 2006 and produced by Sway for Dcypha Productions. It consists mainly of R&B and British hip hop. The album was critically well received and spent two weeks on the chart, with a peak of number 78. The album was produced by Sway himself along with producers Joe Fields, Terror Danjah, Turkish, Bigz, Ramiz, Tamiz, Big E.D. and Al Shux who produced almost all of the songs, including the single Little Derek. MOBO Awards
The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin, also known as the MOBOs) are an annual British music award presentation honouring achievements in " music of black origin", including hip hop, grime, UK Drill, R&B, soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and African music. The MOBO Organisation was founded by Kanya King, and the first MOBO award was presented to Baby D, in the Best Dance Act category. The inaugural awards were broadcast by Carlton Television from London's Connaught Rooms.
