''Swashbuckler'' is a 1980 board game published by Yaquinto Publications. Gameplay ''Swashbuckler'' is a combat game for 2-6 players set in the era of '' The Three Musketeers''. Two maps are included: a tavern and a pirate's ship. Players can choose to be musketeers wielding rapiers, or pirates with sabres. In addition to counters for each character, there are also counters for tables, chairs, mugs, chandeliers, carpets, treasure chests and cannons. The rules include several basic setups. The starting locations and facing of characters are determined randomly. The game characterizes a free-for-all brawl where the last character standing is the winner. Before each turn, players write down a sequence of six orders for their character that can include movement; throwing mugs or daggers; swinging from the chandalier; various offensive and defensive fencing maneuvers; pulling a carpet or shoving a table (to knock another character prone); or waving a hat (which does no harm but can ...

Yaquinto Publications
Yaquinto Publications was the wargame publishing arm of the Robert Yaquinto Printing Company of Dallas, Texas. History Yaquinto Publications was started by Robert Yaquinto Printing early in the year 1979. In March 1979 Robert Yaquinto hired Steve Peek and Craig Taylor, both experienced wargame designers with several famous titles in their resumes. Peek and Taylor had been previously employed by Battleline Publications, which had been merged into Heritage USA, but when that failed to rush the growth of the company, Peek and Taylor instead helped to form Yaquinto to publish wargames. Yaquinto brought several innovations to the industry, largely because they operated within a well-established printing company, with its attending expertise. It is in the swashbuckler genre, which has heroic, chivalrous swordsmen who fight for justice. TSR (company)
TSR, Inc. was an American game publishing company, best known as the original publisher of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' (''D&D''). Its earliest incarnation, Tactical Studies Rules, was founded in October 1973 by Gary Gygax and Don Kaye. Gygax had been unable to find a publisher for ''D&D'', a new type of game he and Dave Arneson were co-developing, so founded the new company with Kaye to self-publish their products. Needing financing to bring their new game to market, Gygax and Kaye brought in Brian Blume in December as an equal partner. ''Dungeons & Dragons'' is generally considered the first tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG), and established the genre. William B. Fawcett (born May 13, 1947) is an American editor, anthologist, game designer, book packager, fiction writer, and historian. Life Fawcett and fellow science fiction writer Jody Lynn Nye were married in 1987. They first met at a science fiction convention in 1985. At that time, Fawcett owned a gaming company in Niles, Illinois, and Nye began to work as a freelance writer for the company. Career Bill Fawcett was one of the players in early ''Dungeons & Dragons'' games being played in the Chicago and Milwaukee areas, using photocopied prototypes of the rules handed out by Gary Gygax.
