Svetlana Kuzmina (russian: Светлана Кузьмина; born 18 June 1969) is a retired Soviet breaststroke swimmer who won two medals in the 4 × 100 m medley relay at the 1985 and 1987 European Aquatics Championships. She also competed in the 100 m and 200 m breaststroke at the 1988 Summer Olympics, but did not reach the finals. Novokuybyshevsk (russian: Новоку́йбышевск) is a city in Samara Oblast, Russia, located on the eastern bank of the Volga River, away from it. Population: History During the Russian Civil War, the area where the city now stands was a place of ferocious battles with the White Russians. In 1946, shortly after World War II, the Soviets constructed an oil refinery in Novokuybyshevsk, which resulted in the establishment of a large village of approximately 14,000 people.
