Svein Magnus Furu
Svein Magnus Furu (born 10 November 1983) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (saxophone) composer and music journalist, known from several bands and album releases. Career Furu was born in Asker and is a graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where he studied under musicians like Fredrik Ljungkvist, Morten Halle and Ivar Grydeland. He has collaborated on venues all over Europe and USA, within a series of bands like Aphrodisiac, Speakeasy, Stian Around a Hill Quartet, Andrea Kvartett, Trabant and Diplodokus. He has also played on the biggest Norwegian jazz festivals, such as Oslo Jazzfestival, Kongsberg Jazzfestival, Nattjazz and MaiJazz, in addition to the 'Turku Jazz Festival' in Finland. He was nominated for Spellemannprisen 2009 in the class Jazz, together with Kim Johannesen and Tore Sandbakken for the album ''Kayak''. Asker
Asker ( no, Asker), properly called Askerbygda in Norwegian, is a district and former Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Akershus, Norway. From 2020 it is part of the larger administrative municipality Asker, Viken (also known as Greater Asker) in Viken (county), Viken county, together with the traditional Buskerud districts Røyken and Hurum; Asker proper constitutes the northern fourth and is part of the Greater Oslo Region. Tore Thorvaldsen Sandbakken (born 14 May 1985 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegians, Norwegian jazz musician (drums) and composer, living in Oslo, and known from collaborations in a number of bands, ranging from free improvised music to modern jazz. Career Sandbakken holds a Master's degree in drumming and improvisation from the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, and the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, with guidance from musicians such as Thomas Strønen, Tor Haugerud, Pål Thowsen, Kresten Osgood and Jonas Johansen (musician), Jonas Johansen. He has played in several bands like Aphrodisiac, Off Topic, Vojtech Prochazka Trio, Jens Carelius and Astrid E. Pedersen Ensemble. NorCD
NorCD (established 1991 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian record label for folk, jazz, world music and improvisational music, led by the founder saxophonist and composer Karl Seglem. NorCD is distributed through Musikkoperatørene, and is a member of FONO. Biography In 1991 Karl Seglem decided to create a new free record label to distribute his music. The company soon enlisted a number of Norwegian performers in different genres. A derivation of the company was the label SOFA, which focused on the European improv, led by Ingar Zach and Ivar Grydeland. The NorCD catalog features 110 CD-titles (spring 2012) with many of the foremost Norwegian jazz and folk musicians. Most of the music is available on main digital platforms (download & streaming) in addition to traditional CD-format. The 10-year anniversary was celebrated in Blå in Oslo in 2001.
