Svein Døvle Larssen
Svein Døvle Larssen (20 April 1928 – 23 January 2015) was a Norwegian newspaper editor. He spent most of his career in the Conservative press in the county of Vestfold, and was also an elected politician for the Conservative Party. He also held a number of positions in Norwegian media organizations. Career He was born in Stokke, and took his examen artium in 1948. In 1949 he was hired as a journalist in the now defunct Sandefjord-based newspaper '' Dagbladet Vestfold''. He was soon promoted to editor-in-chief, although in another newspaper, '' Rjukan Dagblad''. From 1954 to 1956 he was the editor-in-chief of '' Larvik Morgenavis''. At the same time he was elected to serve as a member of Stokke municipal council for the term 1955–1959. In 1956 he was hired as a journalist in a larger newspaper, ''Tønsbergs Blad''. Vestfold
Vestfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in Eastern Norway. In 2020 the county became part of the much larger county of Vestfold og Telemark. Located on the western shore of the Oslofjord, it bordered the previous Buskerud and Telemark counties. The county administration was located in Tønsberg, Norway's oldest city, and the largest city is Sandefjord. With the exception of the city-county of Oslo, Vestfold was the smallest county in Norway by area. Vestfold was the only county in which all municipalities had declared Bokmål to be their sole official written form of the Norwegian language. Vestfold is located west of the Oslofjord, as the name indicates. Borre, Norway
Borre is a village in the municipality of Horten, Vestfold county, Norway. The village of Borre had provided the name of the former Borre municipality. The name The Old Norse form of the name was ''Borró''. The meaning of the name is unknown. History The municipality was created as Borre formannskapsdistrikt in 1837 and bore the municipality number 0717. On 1 January 1858, the city of Horten was separated from Borre to constitute a separate administrative unit, leaving Borre with a population of 2,954. Horten got the municipality number 0703, the third digit of zero indicating its city status. Starting in 1921, a series of border adjustments which moved territory from Borre to Horten took place. The parts moved to Horten in 1921, 1951 and 1986 had 287, 308 and 22 inhabitants respectively. Riksmål
(, also , ) is a written Norwegian language form or spelling standard, meaning the ''National Language'', closely related and now almost identical to the dominant form of Bokmål, known as . Both Bokmål and Riksmål evolved from the Danish written language as used in Norway during Denmark–Norway, the countries' union and beyond, and from the pronunciation of Danish that became the native language of Norwegian elites by the 18th century. The Conservative Press Association ( no, Den Konservative Presses Forening; shortened DKPF) was a Norwegian media institution whose stated objective was the furtherance of conservative daily newspapers. Amongst its members were editors, journalists, publishers and businesspeople who were involved in declared conservative newspapers. Åsgårdstrand
Åsgårdstrand is a small port town in Horten municipality, Vestfold, Norway. It is also the name of a former independent municipality and a center of trade. The town is situated 10 km south of Horten, 10 km north of Tønsberg and 100 km south of Oslo by the west coast of the Oslofjord. On 1 January 1965 Åsgårdstrand and Borre municipalities, plus a part of Sem were merged into the new municipality of Borre. By the time of the merger Åsgårdstrand had 488 inhabitants and was the smallest municipality in Norway. Åsgårdsstrand is a summer resort destination with a number of restored old homes. It is home to various cafés, galleries, and a beach. Edvard Munch’s former home is now owned by the municipality and open to the public.
