Susan Shaw
Susan Shaw (29 August 192927 November 1978) was an English actress. Biography Shaw was born Patsy Sloots in West Norwood, London. She had wanted to become a dress designer and was working as a typist at the Ministry for Information when she did a screen test for the J. Arthur Rank Organisation. They signed her to a term contract and trained her at its "charm school". She had a bit part in the musical '' London Town'' (1946) and a larger part in another musical, '' Walking on Air'' (1946). She had a small role in ''The Upturned Glass'' (1947) and '' Jassy'' (1947). Shaw was in ''Holiday Camp'' (1947) which introduced the Huggett family, although she did not play a Huggett. Shaw was given her most noticeable role to date in ''It Always Rains on Sunday'' (1947) for Ealing. She had another decent support part in '' My Brother's Keeper'' (1948) at Gainsborough and ''London Belongs to Me'' (1948), in the latter replacing Pat Roc who pulled out. Susan D. Shaw (October 24, 1943 – January 27, 2022) was an American environmental health scientist, marine toxicologist, explorer, ocean conservationist, and author. A Doctor of Public Health, she was a professor in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the School of Public Health at the State University of New York at Albany, and Founder/President of the Shaw Institute, a nonprofit scientific institution with a mission to improve human and ecological health through innovative science and strategic partnerships. Shaw is globally recognized for pioneering high-impact environmental research on ocean pollution, climate change, oil spills, and plastics that has fueled public policy over three decades. In 1983, with landscape photographer Ansel Adams, she published ''Overexposure'', the first book to document the health hazards of photographic chemicals. Susan Shaw Devesa
Susan Shaw Devesa (born June 24, 1944) is an American cancer epidemiologist who conducts descriptive research of the patterns of cancer in the United States. She was a section chief of descriptive studies at the National Cancer Institute. Life Devesa was born June 24, 1944, in Washington, D.C. She completed a B.A. in mathematics from Earlham College in 1966. She studied in France for a portion of her undergraduate degree. In 1966, Devesa joined the demography section in the biometry branch at the National Cancer Institute (NCI). She earned a M.H.S. (1974) and Ph.D. (1979) in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health in 1974. Her dissertation was titled ''A study of the association of cancer incidence with income and education among whites and blacks''. Earl L. Diamond was her doctoral advisor.
