Surrender (Kutless Album)
''Surrender'' is the ninth studio album by the Christian rock band Kutless. It was released by BEC Recordings on November 13, 2015. This album marks the return of long-time producer Aaron Sprinkle; the band's first record with him since ''Hearts of the Innocent'' in 2006. This is also the first album to feature bassist Neal Cameron and drummer Drew Porter, the latter of whom replaced previous drummer Kyle Peek. History On November 6, 2015 the song "Mirror" was released. Critical reception Signaling in a three and a half star review from ''CCM Magazine'', Matt Conner recognizes, "the band stays true to form on ''Surrender''". Kutless
Kutless is an American Christian rock band from Portland, Oregon formed in 1999. Since their formation, they have released multiple studio albums and one live album, ''Live from Portland''. They have sold over 3 million records worldwide. History Earlier years (1999–2000) The band was formed in Portland, Oregon, as a campus worship band named "Call Box". They performed during the 1999–2000 school year at Warner Pacific College. Their first guitarist, Andrew Morrison, decided to leave the band shortly before they signed with BEC records. James Mead replaced Andrew at lead guitar. The Band changed their name to "Kutless" in October 2001, before releasing their first three-track EP followed up by their full-length album in 2002 on BEC Recordings. Dove Award
A Dove Award is an accolade by the Gospel Music Association (GMA) of the United States to recognize outstanding achievement in the Christian music industry. The awards are presented annually. Formerly held in Nashville, Tennessee, the Dove Awards took place in Atlanta, Georgia during 2011 and 2012, but has since moved back to Nashville. The ceremonies feature live musical performances and are broadcast on TBN. The awards were established in 1969, and represent a variety of musical styles, including rock, pop, hip hop, country, and urban. History The Dove Awards were originally conceptualized by Gospel singer and songwriter Bill Gaither, at a Gospel Music Association board meeting in 1968. Jeremy Michael Riddle (born October 18, 1977) is an American Christian musician, songwriter, and worship leader, best known for a long tenure as an ensemble leader with Bethel Music. Background Born in Mount Holly Township, New Jersey Jeremy Riddle's debut album, ''Full Attention'', was released on March 6, 2007. It peaked on the ''Billboard'' Top Christian and Gospel Albums Chart at No. 47, and the only single released from the album, "Sweetly Broken", peaked at No. 19 on both the ''Billboard'' Hot Christian Songs and Christian Airplay Charts. It has also been used as a contemporary worship song. In 2009, Riddle released ''The Now and Not Yet'' through Varietal Records. Brian Mark Johnson (born March 17, 1978) is an American contemporary worship musician and worship pastor. He is the president and co-founder of Bethel Music, as well as a member of its Artist Collective and is one-half of the husband-and-wife worship duo, Brian & Jenn Johnson. He is also a senior worship pastor at Bethel Church in Redding, California, and a Senior Overseer of WorshipU, an online school of worship under Bethel Music which he co-founded with Jenn Johnson. Scott Krippayne (born July 23, 1970) is an American singer and songwriter. Krippayne is better known for his contributions towards other artists, as over 150 of his songs have been recorded by others including Point of Grace, John Tesh, Avalon, Jaci Velasquez, FFH, True Vibe and Sandi Patty. Tony Wood is an American songwriter working primarily in the contemporary Christian music (CCM) genre. He has received five Gospel Music Association Dove Awards for songwriting. Early and personal life Wood was raised in Chase City, Virginia and graduated from Bluestone High School ( Skipwith, VA) and Averett College (now University in Danville, VA.) In 1987 he graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (Wake Forest, NC). Music career His career began in 1990 when he signed a staff songwriting deal with Lorenz Creative Services (which was soon purchased and became the gospel division of BMG Music Publishing.) Jon Micah Sumrall
Jon Micah Sumrall (born October 13, 1980) is an American musical performer and lead vocalist of the Christian rock band Kutless. He occasionally plays acoustic guitar and piano for the band as well. Sumrall has been a member of Kutless since he started the band with James Mead and Ryan Shrout in 2001. It began as the worship band, Call Box, while Sumrall was still in college. He released, ''Faith & Family'', with BEC Recordings, in 2015. Hearts Of The Innocent
''Hearts of the Innocent'' is the fourth album released by the Christian rock band Kutless. A special edition of this album was also released. It included a DVD with all seven (at the time) of the band's music videos, as well as four bonus acoustic tracks added to the CD. The song "Shut Me Out" was once in the top 5 on ChristianRock.net, and "Somewhere in the Sky" was the 16th most requested song. This is their first record to feature bass player Dave Leutkenhoelter and drummer Jeff Gilbert. It is also the last studio album to feature original guitarist Ryan Shrout, though their live album ''Live from Portland'' was his last record of any kind released with the band.
